We took a taxi from the center to the Museum which is 12 km away from AltMarkt. Taxi costs arround EURO 25.- and the taxi should wait for you during your visit as you again need a taxi to come back to the City. It is worth seeing the summer house of Weber altough many original items were badly ruined during the World War 2. They decorated the house in line with its original form. Nice Lady is running this small museum and she tells you the whole story ! Attention !' Whatever you see and listen to ; are in German.

Weber composed here, when he was with the opera house in Dresden. His last descendent donated the artifacts and the funds to maintain this small museum in his actual summer home--his piano, his guitar, his letters, and medals, and some music manuscripts are on display. His gravetone is in the backyard (moved from the cemetery where he and his family had been buried). Chamber concerts are held here throughout the year; it's not a far walk up from the back of the Pillnitz Park, and a very quick walk back down to the river bank. Might be interesting if you just want to see the inside (and dimensions) of a country residence of a wealthy, but middle class artist of the early Romantic era.

This museum is devoted to the life and work of the German romantic composer Carl Maria von Weber. It is housed in his summer home near the River Elbe outside Dresden (near Pillnitz Castle). While many of his original possessions were lost in the war, the museum has found other contemporary pieces or copies and the house itself, where Weber wrote many of his most famous works, gives a real sense of early 19th century country life in Germany. If you speak German, the friendly curator has a wealth of information about the house and Weber's life.
