- Alex NRotherham, United Kingdom6 contributionsPay for the tower, offers great views!Great place to visit whilst in Dresden. Free of charge for for the church. Additional fee of 10 Euros per person, to the top of the tower. The views are really good and you can see all the city. However If you are not the fit, think about the amount of stairs. Good history to this placeVisited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 March 2024
- FrisenvangBronshoej, Denmark289 contributionsStunning - don't missFantastic beautiful church both inside and outside. Hard to believe that the church has been rebuilt after the war. The church square is also very nice. Don't miss a lunch or drink at one of the many restaurants with a view to the churchVisited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 15 April 2024
- operalover939Toronto, Canada2,939 contributionsGloriously restoredThe first time I was in Dresden, some years after Die Wende, they were working on the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche, badly damaged during the February 1945 bombing raid and subsequently razed. Now it is back to its old glory. Well worth a visit even if you're not religious.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 14 May 2024
- AvidTraveler12Winchester, United Kingdom1,831 contributionsA Grand BuildingGloriously rebuilt brick by brick to its pre-WWII grandeur is the Frauenkirche. Like most places of worship the entrance is free but the visit up the to the top comes with a charge. The views of Dresden are fantastic. If you thought the external renovation was spectacular, wait till you get inside.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 8 June 2024
- PavlaPavlaChrudim, Czech Republic7,538 contributionsInteresting interior, beautiful view from the towerIf it weren't for the altar, I would say I stepped into the theater. I have never seen places for people arranged like this in a church. The benches were placed not only on the ground floor (in the shape of a semicircle), but also on the upper floors, so it really looked like an auditorium in a theater. Another thing that surprised me here was that there were no paintings on the walls and no stained glass windows. The altar itself was beautiful and its part was an organ. The ceiling was also beautifully decorated with paintings. Free entry. I also recommend visiting the tower, which offers a beautiful view of Dresden. It is entered through a separate entrance and it costs €10. The ascent is not too difficult, it is mostly on a flat surface, there are only a few stairs.Visited July 2024Travelled soloWritten 2 July 2024
- SFDANRSan Francisco, California88 contributionsBaroque church in Dresden-panoramic views from tower, organ concertsBeautiful restored Baroque church in the center of Dresden. Be sure to climb up the 275 steps to get to the top of the tower. You will get a panoramic view of the Dresden, including the Elbe. They have organ concerts- we came back to hear one. The church has beautiful organ and is a great setting for Baroque music.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 August 2024

Never rebuilt by the Communists, only the reunification of Germany brought this masterpiece back into existence. Tall and serene, it is breathtaking. There is no reason to come to Dresden if you can't take time to see this architectural beauty. While you're there, you'll find an architect turned artist named Wolff Rosenkrantz painting on the side (probably west side) of the church. Buy one of his beautiful watercolors of Dresden.

Worth the 8 euros up to the top. I had a voucher from the panometer attraction we got me 2 euros off. The walk up is pretty steep but you get a great view of the inside of the church. 2 and a half circles of the roof gets you to the top. The last stairs are almost vertical up a ladder but you get a great view of the city and surroundings when there so well worth it!!

Such a great story behind this amazing building. This church is the highlight of Dresden and it was badly damaged during the 2nd world war. The citizens tried their best to collect the original bricks of the building and numbered it. 50 years later the construction started to rebuild the church. Very huge and amazing. Concerts are held now inside it.

Up until 2005 the Frauenkirche was just a pile of rubble. The original Church collapsed after the Fire Bombing of Dreseden. It was rebuilt with donations from all over the world, including York England, who's own Cathedral was bombed during WWII. The interior is decidely Baroque for a Protestand Church. You can climb to the top of the Dome, many steps and a long circular ramp are involved. Not for those who easily get winded.

This Catholic church was originally built in about 1740 and later changed to a Lutheran church. It was destroyed during the last war and left for 50 yrs and rebuilt within the last 20 yrs using some of the original dark brick from the bombed out church. It is very ornate inside. the iron cross was melted in the original bombing and reconstructed recently. Worth a visit to see what people, banding together can reconstruct.

We first entered the church to admire the reconstructed interior which is beautiful in its own right. Then we headed up to the viewing platform on the dome. What a fantastic panoramic view of the beautiful city of Dresden and the Elbe. Definitely worth visiting if for nothing more than those breathtaking views.

Do research the history of the church before you visit and you will defiantly appreciate the building more. Like most places of worship the entrance is free but the visit up the to the top comes with a charge. the renovations are spectacular and the interior with its paintings and domes is wonderful. just sit and enjoy and contemplate.
After all it is a spiritual building.

It is an absolutely striking building with a one-of-a-kind interior. It was quite crowded when we went, but I remember the pastel wallpaper made me swoon. A must see in Dresden. The location is also right near all the other attractions.

Re-built from the ruins of WWII, it’s a delightful chiffon confection of a church. While we really liked it, we surprisingly did not feel compelled to stay more than a few minutes as it was fairly uniform in its appearance. No matter what I say you will visit it. Everyone who visits Dresden comes here. And rightfully so.

Есть ли постоянные дни недели , когда проводятся органные концерты?
Written 29 January 2019

Hvornår er der koncerter i kirken? Hvor kan man reservere/købe billetter?
Written 8 November 2017

Written 13 January 2015
