Visited the church on market day . The interior is a bit dark but imposing . A throwback to less ornate but somber cathedrals. Worth a look

Very impressive cathedral which brings out the feeling of stepping right into medieval, dark history. My grandson - thirteen -said he expected Harry Potter to come around the next corner, so he was also pleased that we went to this cathedral. Otherwise churches are not...More

Is a good visit. Is free, for me the special was one of the capels in the back side that looks like to proud to the Grim reaper. To improve, some tarjets or something to explain in english

Lovely place with a picturesque backdrop of the Old cathedral. Many restaurants by the dom. Shopping places all around. The Saturday farmers market and wine market is fun to hang out. Right next to the Gutenberg Museum.

This Cathedral is really incredible. It is a great place to wander through and try to imagine how it was built 1000 years ago. The stone work is fabulous. If you are in Mainz this is a must see experience.

There are lots of interesting photographic opportunities in this beautiful over a thousand year old building. Thousands of people visit it each year attesting to its importance. Although there are crowds of people, it still maintains its worshipful atmosphere.

This was the first of three cathedrals along the Rhine we visited (Worms and Speyer being the other two), all built in the Romanesque style and beautifully preserved to this day (Germans are so good at heritage preservation, after all). Don't be put off by...More
