Schangelbrunen is a spitting boy statue located near the Rathaus (City Hall). It is a must see statue when one visits Koblenz. Watch out for the wet spot on the ground and avoid standing there when admiring the statue. Every now and then just when you least expect it, "little John" will spit and the unsuspecting admirers will get soaking... More

First of all Koblenz is a very pretty City on the junction of the Mosel and Rhyne Rivers Walking through the back streets you come upon a statue of a little boy standing in a tub of water, every few minutes he spits out a jet of water from his mouth. Great fun for the kids on a hot day.... More

The story of the boy's background makes this fountain much more understandable. The people from Koblenz have a good sense of humor...

What a funny statue. We stood there for fifteen minutes watching others get spat on. How funny. Careful where you stand he can spit pretty far.

I went here as part of a guided tour from a river cruise. It's an interesting fountain and story. Look at the water pattern on the pavement or the fountain will get you.

As part of our river cruise, we had a walking tour and we went by this funny little statue. We were warned not to get close, as every once in a while, it sent out a stream of pee.

Take some time to read about this fountain and it then means a lot more that you have seen it, at first sight it does not look very imprressive

This was an interesting stop on our walking tour of Koblenz. This Koblenz landmark is on Willi-Hörter Platz, the town hall courtyard. Carl Burger created it in 1940 and dedicated to local poet Joseph Cornelius. The Schängel is a symbol of Koblenz since Koblenz was conquered so many times in its history. There were many children fathered by invading troops.... More

Water will come out from the month of the boy on the fountain so remember to stay away from the "wet area" on the floor. It happens every few minutes and is quite interesting.

Great wee find. Just tucked around a corner but too hard too get to if you have a map. A very nice wee statue which spits an impressive distance every 2 mins or so. We had fun watching people get unexpectedly saturated!
