Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

1)One should buy tickets exclusively online, we had to wait 90 min outside in the queue. The others marched through without waiting

2)The children were absolutely enthusiastic, me not so, but it was not for me anyway

3)For me, a kind of rip-off. As soon as you are in, a nervous lady , is offering you photos for 8 euros and the rest also costs, there are everywhere offers with costs, very pity and in addition to the entrance fee of 60 euros. The whole walk takes no longer than 30 minutes

They say online purchase your ticket online and save 40%, but it is still the normal price. We just walked in and then we got the discount!?
It is not that big inside it was very quiet what is nice due covid-19.
We had a good time, but it is not worth the normal full price. During covid-19 all the special experiences are canceled like the Show feedings and touch pools.

We had to wait for more then half an hour to get in, in very cold, misty, Oberhausen.
We followed the parking signs P8 or P9 for Sealife. Don't relay on your TomTom because the address has no parking opportunity. But the most irritant part of that was that you have to walk for about 12 minutes to arrive at the aquarium. So when you arrive at Centro O spot a place on parking 1 or 2. Much closer to the antrance. The aquarium is not equiped for a lot of visitors. Very narrow corridors to watch all the beautiful sea life. The aquarium itself where lovely and very varied. The entrance will cost you € 16,50 and within a hour your are standing outside. For us it was not worth the long waiting combined with the entrance price.

My family were visiting from the UK so we figured it would be a good option to visit the Sea LIfe centre and indeed, the Lego place thing. I have been to many sea life centres in Britain and always enjoyed them so how could it go wrong.
Wow...
First of all the queue was crazy long and I assumed it was down to it being packed full of marine biologists on a convention, but it turns out it is because the first thing you have to do is get locked in some kind of holding 'cell' where you have to watch what I can assume is some form of instructional video on how to view precious few sea creatures in an unpleasant setting and make it seem like something worthy of the label 'attraction'. I think it came in at about 25 euros each, which was bad enough, but I found it slightly unusual that our tiny sister (who has Down Syndrome) had to pay full price too (I didn't make her pay, I paid for it, I'm not an animal!). It's not a massive moan but most places cater for children and disabilities.
Anyway, there's more. The place was dirty, dark, bits of it were closed and the general feeling was one of depression rather than watching in awe, the mysteries of the animal kingdom.
There is some kind of yellow submarine exhibit with lots of button and levers, I was messing around and nothing was happening so after a while one of the members of staff came over and started hitting the light on the Submarine, at which point it creaked into flashy action.
I don't tend to complain about things (being British I tend to apologise when someone else has let me down) but this place is so so so bad and not representative of the normal standards of the franchise.

I have put the recommended length of visit as less than one hour, but that is simply for the 20 minutes it will take you to walk through and out as quickly as possible, with queuing you may have to add an hour or so.

Having visited Sea life Oberhausen today, I can honestly say I was TOTALLY disappointed from beginning to end. First of all the queuing is absolutely ridiculous! Totally unnecessary to let people in with such huge spacing in between, and waiting for various doors to open! Utterly stupid, and only adds to the even greater disappointment and anti-climax when you do finally get to actually go in, and by that point the children are so fed up that they don't even care about the fish anymore!!! It's like "did we really queue for 30 mins JUST to see this!?". The displays were not great, there is no large tunnel to look up and fully appreciate the sharks/turtle, as there are in other Sea Lifes in other countries, some information is missing next to the tanks, and some of stamps for the childrens books didn't even work!!!
And then the free admission to the adventure park is a complete and utter waste of time!!! There is nothing for a child of under 4 years old to do!! & to do the gold rush you even have to pay more!!!! If I were you, I would STAY AWAY from Sea life Oberhausen (- is the rest of Germany any better?!), and go to the UK instead, where it is SO much better!!!

Dear Emmorango, Thanks very much for your feedback concerning the SEA LIFE Center in Oberhausen. We were very disappointed to read that you were unsatisfied with your visit. Due to the high popularity of the center, it can happen that there are quelines lasting 30 minutes or longer during peak hours in the middle of the day, especially on weekends and during the holidays. To avoid waiting times, we advise guests to visit early in the morning right after opening hour around 10 or in the late afternoon between 4:30 and 5 pm. I was rather puzzle about your comment that there is no tunnel - we have a tunnel made of acrylic glass which leads straight under the ocean tank where you can see sharks, the turtle and a lot of other animals. As for the broken stamps, we will replace those as soon as possible. I am sorry that you were disappointed with the Adventure Park. Concerning the restrictions of age and height at the attractions, we are in no way able to influence those or make exceptions, as we are bound by the restrictions the TÜV gives us. If you have any other comments or suggestions, feel free to contact us via Email oberhausen@sealife.de
