This museum has a great story to tell about Dusseldorf, but it doesn't tell it well. It is badly organized so the historical time flow is not always clear. There are many empty rooms with no evidence that they will ever be used.

An ok museum in the old town of Düsseldorf (Alt Stadt). Interesting collection and an ok place to visit. An interesting piece of artwork on the wall too.

If you want to know more about the history of Düsseldorf, you should visit this museum. Most of the descriptions are both in English and Deutsch.

Good exploration of the city's history, and free if you turn up at the right time. Shame you can't take photos inside though.

This museum is fairly large. It presents the city history in a chronological order, starting from prehistoric times. There are archeological findings, lots of paintings, and items like a carriage. I thought the anatomical models of a man and woman, for instructing nuns, were quite...More

Quite disappointing. It is boring and uninspiring , and is sure to disappoint an international visitor looking for a taste of German history. The rooms seem to be thrown together in a haphazard way , there is little or no video presentation or even graphics....More

There were only a handful of other visitors during our time at the Stadtmuseum in Düsseldorf on a quiet Sunday afternoon, yet the two staff members at the front desk met us with indifference. They seemed more interested in resuming their conversation with each other,...More
