A lot bigger and more to see than at first glance

It takes a while on the light railway to get here from the city centre, about 1 hour each way, What you see can be described as a stately home, but it's definitely not a castle. The gardens do resemble a mini Versailles, but there's not much to see in the middle of winter. Try to get into the "castle"... More

We were here in January 2017, and wish we had more time to spend here. We had not realised there was so much there! We only managed to rush through the museum of garden history in an hour, before doing what turned out to be a very interesting 90 minute tour of the main palace itself. As has been mentioned... We visited during December when there was a Christmas market in the courtyard. It was nice to enjoy some gluhwein while we were warming up round a brazier! We took a German tour but managed with our friends translating! We were a little limited in our visit by it being very cold and foggy but we hope to revisit in... More

We couldn't sign up for one of the English-speaking tours but at least we managed to see this lovely castle and its garden from outside.

Beautiful House and Gardens. Had a brilliant tour inside the house with interesting guide. Cannot enter on your own to look around. Very worthwhile. We managed to get tram there which stops nearby and closer than train station.

Want to have a walk, a run, a launch, see a beautiful building and well engineered garden ? Just go there. I really enjoyed a complete afternoon there, under the sunshine. And if you are interested, check the events as this castle gets loads of visitors at specific dates (Special fireworks, or public Pic-Nic in white, as for example).

Part of the challenge seems to be finding the correct entrance to the various parts of this place! The main building is entry by guided tour only and we went on a German speaking tour as the English one was much, much later in the day. The guide was clearly informative and offered up with information in English to help... More

This 18th Century residence was built for a German Elector (like a Duke). The palace itself is extremely charming, much more on the inside than the out. English speaking tour is available on the weekends, and we took advantage. It was a GREAT decision as the inside of the palace cannot be visited without the tour. Many people were peeking... More

You can walk here. The park is very big, the most of the people is walking, do picnic, runing, and cycling. Good place for a little quiet and nature.
