This opera house is one of the most beautiful in Germany. It has been rebuilt after WWII, but to an astonishing standard. The tour of the opera house before the performance is very nice. It was 10 euros. Then we had tickets to see the opera after the tour. What a wonderful experience.

We attended a nice performance of Wagner's Lohengrin., for which we ordered tickets through internet (easy). Unfortunately it was impossible to order some food for the first pause (sold out already 30 minutes for the beginning of the opera). In the pause you really have to fight to get some drinks. I just could find one ladies bathroom on the... More

The river is one of the busiest places of the city. On one side you have restaurants and bars, the view to the other side and it's quite nice to take a walk.

Great performances for reasonable price; do not compare it with the Vienese Staatsoper or the Royal Operahouse of Covent Garden; do do expect very nice performances in a cosy theater in 50's architecture. Well worth a visit.

The opera house has got a very good staff. International and outstanding singers. Last time we saw Mozart: Zauberflöte, by Barrie Kosky. This was the best ever performance of thsi opera what we saw. But other performances were also very good.

We are used to have dinner at the Opera in Cities like London and New York. Because we are also frequent visitors of Duseldorf and their Oper am Rhein we didn't had much time to have dinner outside the Opera House. So we informed about the possibility to eat something before the Opera Rigoletto. They don't serve warm food, but... More

Enjoyed the ballet show. I managed to get a ticket in the foyer form a gentleman with extras - it seemed legit and saved me a few euros. Dancers are skilled and the choreography very good, especially the ballet in silence, a showcase of skill.

The performance that we saw was a modern ballet. Was nice. The program covers all the classical and modern repertoires

If you have been to Vienna, Berlin or Munich, the Duesseldorf Opera (Deutsche Oper am Rhein) will feel a bit spartan. As far as performances are concerned - and I think that's true for any opera house today - check whether you like the stage setting. Performances do vary between tradiional and very modern settings and that's not to everybody's... More

Poor decorations. Simple interior. Performance of artists in "Ariadna auf Naxos" was good but not something to make me come again.
