This church is a short walk from the Cologne Cathedral. Its Romanesque architecture makes for an interesting contrast with that of the Dom. For a small fee, you can venture below ground and see the original construction which was for a Roman granary. There are...More

I was visiting Cologne for one day only. I knew that the museums would be closed but I certainly didn't expect a church to be closed one day of the week. How ridiculous is that! Don't people go to church on Mondays too?

Beautiful church which began life in the 12th Century as a Benedictine Abbey. Pristine white interior less ornate than most catholic churches. There is a very strange, harrowing statue of Christ. Looks like he's on the cross but there is no cross. A few minutes walk...More

It was repaired nicely after the war. The church is close to the Rhine River and many bars and restaurants. Take a quick look, it won't take long and is worth your time.

Gross St.Martin is a lovely looking church.....the interior is not ornate but nice and simple...apparently some of it was rebuilt after ww11...there are Roman ruins in basement which you can visit for a very small fee.

The church looks huge from the outside that dominates the old town area but when inside it seems much smaller and is fairly plain (having been rebuilt after the war). While its free to enter the church theres a small 50c charge to visit the...More

Right on the market, plenty of places to eat. It is right on the river across from a nice green space good to picnic. The green is the bachelor and bachelorette place to go on Friday night which makes a person interesting people watching.

Although there are many old romanesque churches in Cologne, this is precisely the one you should not miss - Gross St. Martin. Along with the cathedral this church is one of the religious symbols of the city since the Middle Ages. The entrance is not...More

We visited Colonge when it was raining. Yes, this presented some challenges but this is a great spot to visit for the unique architecture and inspiring church. Go visit this area.
