Great Day out loads to see

Visited the zoo in December 2016, cold crisp day, but plenty to see and do - and very quiet. Good range of animas and helpful staff. Great play parks too!

Had high expectations for this zoo after reading all of the reviews. However, I witnessed the male lion locked in a CAGE, literally a cage, he couldn't move more than just to turn around. Same with the leopards. I'm sure other animals were in the same situation, yet we didn't see. The enclosures weren't big enough as it is, so... More

My boyfriend and I were concerned at visiting on a cold and wet day after seeing no bears to begin with. But we were not disappointed. The zoo is huge and has such a variety of animals. Very beautiful grounds and the animal surroundings are well-kept. Lots to see and the restaurant provides delicious and inexpensive food. We spent around... More

I figured this would be a small zoo since it's in town, it's not. They have a great selection of animals. I really loved the very old buildings. The local soccer team's mascot lives here so that was fun. The Elephant exhibit is the best i have seen. I loved the signage about the animals. They have the animals picture... More

It's a difficult one....it's good to see the wide range of animals at this zoo but sad to see them in captivity. Some of the enclosures are pretty small and tired but then when it's in the middle of a city what else can you expect with restricted space!? Would I recommend going yes and no, yes if you're never... More

This zoo is not the biggest, but it is well laid out and has some very nice animal houses incl. the "Hippodom" (with hippos) and a huge outdoor and indoor elephant (Asian elephant) display with an entire family and offspring - a great place for a break after shopping and museum visits

Absolutely great zoo! Very educational, loads of interesting animals that do give the feeling of being treated kindly and well. The entrance fee is not cheap, but worth the experience indeed. If you go with children, there is also a big playground.

We have been to many zoos! But I have to say that Köelner zoo is one of the nicest. Easy to find, only 4 tube stops from Cologne main station. Entrance was €19.50 per adult, but also includes entrance to the aquarium. The enclosures are large and clean with good views of the animals. The zoo paths are well signed... More
