Bahkauv or Bachkalb (brook calf) is a figure from a local legend. The creature supposedly hid in the gutters of Aachen and attacked drunk people roaming the streets at night. An old theme of evil being punished by the devil wrapped in a mythological cloak....More

Aachen is full of quirky bronzes and to my eyes this is perhaps the least attractive - but each to his own. It is a good landmark if you're parking at the building on Buchel which is the nearest to the Dom.

Impressive statue (unfortunately currently under maintenance). Worth a visit but would recommend reading the story behind the Bahkauv, which is an Aachen legend.

a black statue, kind of a little monstre, one of a kind! Somehow out of the inner centre, but not far and easy to reach, be patient and you'll find it, it definitely worth seeing and taking a great picture!

I would highly recommend taking the city tour and getting the history of this beautiful and scary beast. The city tour was excellent and the history of this beast was even more fun.

Awesome statue with an interesting story. Find a local to tell you the story of this statue and the. Try to find the rest throughout the city.

This sculpture is a little creepy. It represents another legendary creature of this city. During the warmer months of the year water comes out of it. Just have a look on your way from the market place to Elisenbrunnen, via Büchel.
