Isn't hard to miss!
Jan. 2019
It is a classical architecture at the center of Aachen with fountains of thermal water. Yes, it smells of sulfur that reminds you of the smell of rotting eggs. Behind the building is a green space with archaeological remains of a building.

A very pleasant spot with both inside and outside dining or simply enjoying and liquid refreshment. German food, good steaks, good service.

Beautiful, but who was breaking wind?
Jul. 2019
We just had a quick look, it is surely beautiful and we well understand where the rotten egg smell comes from. It is smaller than expected but worth a small detour the most.

Centre of Aachen

Aachen is famous for many things and its warm springs is one of the most famous aspects of the city. The history of this site is long and quite impressive. It is one of the starting points for many of the walking tours in Aachen so you will no doubt pass it on your walk about town. It is still worth a quick look.

Sulfur in the air ....
Jul. 2019
One of the most famous place is in Aachen and a place that smells to high heaven - sulfurous mineral waters are coming through the fountains and that water have that specific smell. Through the ages these waters have been used for therapeutic purposes - nowadays is an interesting spot to visit in Aachen.
The building itself it is also interesting for those into architecture with the colonnades and the two wings connecting the fountains.
You can get there by walking or you can get there by public transportation also - if you are with a car you need to park nearby and walk to the place.
In the vicinity there are several cafes and restaurants - so if you are not bothered by the sulfurous smell you can sit closeby.
Entrance is free of charge so you can visit the place for free.
Overall it is part of the history of Aachen I recommend you stop by for a few pics.

Rotten Eggs
Sep. 2019
The Elisenbrunnen is a Neoclassical building (and an okay one at that), that houses fountains of water piped from the natural hot springs for which the city is famous. The fountains are houses in the central semi-circular hexastyle portico with two arcade wings extending from either side. Both of which look like colonnades, which interestingly are also of hexastyle design. The city has gone to an awful lot of trouble to house this fountain in a building, it doesn't half stink though.

This is one of the places that I go to on a hot and sunny day.
You can rest on the grassy field or even sit down at nearby cafés or bakeries like Nobis.

History alive in Aachen
May 2019 • Solo
This is the way Aachen shows you her history. You walk into this beautiful building, you smell the sulfur and you read the names of the famous people who visited the health spa.
Know your facts beforehand and this becomes a fun activity. A beautiful building with a beautiful garden behind. You can sit in the garden and enjoy the beauty or visit one of the nearby cafes
Visit the fantastic archaeological area in the garden as well
Indeed worth a visit

Taste the water ... but have your cmaera ready!
May 2019 • Couples
Mineral springs may be good for health but they sure do nothing positive for the palate. Get a companion to taste it but have your camera ready to catch their expression!
