Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The town hall is the stunning old palace of Emperor Charlemagne. Beautiful pictures and portraits adorn the walls, the main ballroom is stunning with the Crown Jewels. The town hall is worth a visit when in Aachen.

We spent a day in Aachen, and we were grateful that so many things to see were near each other, including the city hall building. The many historical rooms are beautiful and well maintained. From a number of windows, one can look across the town square to see the beautiful cathedral. City hall was extra special to see during Christmastime, with extra lighting and a large Christmas tree.

Museums are closed on Mondays, but if you're headed to Aachen another day get the 6 pass at the visitor center. City hall is still open Mondays. It's not a huge tour, but the rooms are beautiful.
There's some outside construction right now.

Another European city, another impressive town hall (Rathaus). The one in Aachen is imposing and hundreds of years old. It's near the amazing Aachen Cathedral which does make it pale into insignificance a tiny bit but I'd still go out of my way to see it.

Trust me, check it out. It's a beauty.

The town hall of Rathaus is hard to miss as it's right in the old town and part of the Charlemagne Route. It's a put much of the facade is under covers dues to renovations, but what you can see is pretty. Even by the standards of Gothic architecture, the facade is adorned with an incredible number of statues. Inside you can see a painting of Charlemagne and two paintings of Napoleon and Josephine in the main hall.

We had a banquet in the great hall—fun to eat in the same room as German royalty did. It is a beautiful chamber. The acoustics are excellent (we had music too!). A beautiful building in and out.

The Rathaus is built on the foundation of Charlemange's palace. The Coronation Hall has a great display (replicas) of the " so called sword of Charlemange"' and the imperial crown and orb of Otto 1. Over the centuries, at least 30 kings were crowned here. Another focuses on Aachen during WW 2. Yet another shows how the building has changed over the centuries. It takes about a half
hour to tour and costs 5 Euro. We went on a Saturday, so we were unable to tour the White Room, due to a wedding. The ladies that collect the entrance fee offered this tip- visit during the week. It is less crowded and you are less likely to encounter closed rooms.

The city hall is a very grand architecture and well preserved. During the summer months, there is a small beach created in the front of the city hall for people to enjoy and children to play in the soft beach sand.
