Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have read that the Gorch Fock 1 is permanently docked in the port of Stralsund as a museum ship. We wanted to look at these, but the prices are very steep.
4€ per person and only the outside deck.Children were free. So just to take a picture on the deck, it's not worth it.

This German sailing ship has an interesting history. She was built in 1933 for training purposes. After WW II, the Soviet Union claimed her as war reparations. She has sailed under the Ukrainian flag and spent time in Britain before finally coming back to her home port in 2003.
The entry fee is reasonable and some areas have been well renovated. However, having toured the ships in the Baltimore harbor in Maryland, I can see that there is still lots of work to be done. She's a beautiful ship so I hope the restoration can continue.

You can gain access to the tall ship for 5 euros and you have the opportunity to walk through it including lower decks. Ask for an english information sheet to learn about its history as there is mostly german descriptions. The exhibit shows the german russian and present eras of the ship. There is a small museum on the lower floor. Make sure you look at the newspapers there are interesting election advertisements (nothing to do with the ship but interesting none the less). We parked directly across from the ship in a paid parking lot for only 1 euro and spent about an hour on the ship.
Not a bad thing to see if you have limited time.

I felt bad seeing such a beautiful boat in such a state. Specially the interiors. I wouldn't call it a museum, it's mostly a deposit of things, not well explained and of course in German. You can save the experience if you prefer avoid the lack of respect for such a noble boat.

We parked nearby and strolled up to this impressive looking sailing ship, which from a distance is really a major landmark in the harbour. On closer inspection from the outside, however it seemed obvious that this big white ship had seen better days. Rust and paint flaking away which might be understandable given its age but...
On the morning we came it was open to visitors and there seemed to be quite a few tourists milling about on the deck above us. But, having read some of the disappointing reviews and also having our dog in tow we decided not to explore the inside.

One of the most interesting and beautiful yacht ships In Europe with very rich history. Now it is the museum, you must see it and go to polish city Gdynia to compar this ship with Dar Pomorza.

This one is interesting for anyone who would like to have a first-hand experience of a sailing training vessel, especially if they haven't had one before. The exhibition itself is centered around the history of this vessel in the pre-war (Nazi) German service and its later history after World War II in Soviet/GDR service. Anyone interested in old marine technical devices such as radio and radar equipment and survival gear will have fun visiting this ship. I was not so I was a little disappointed. Funding seems to be difficult for maintaining the boat, so the superstructures are not in the best shape. However, your visit will help them to refit the vessel!

Its a big beautiful old ship, never usually too busy, entry is painless and the tour is nice, well worth spending an hour of your time.

I felt that the Ocean museum was a rip-off so I went over to the boot instead. First of all you need to have German if you are going to enjoy it. Unfortunately my dad had a crutch so he could not to downwards but they had an interesting sheet of information in English for him. The price is reasonable - €5. I am interested in this type of attraction. You will spend a half hour to an hour discovering about the vessel, history, how crew members lived etc. It is enjoyable but again having the language is essential to enjoying it.

Visited on a saturday. The ship is frequently used for weddings and one had just ended. Admission was 4.90 euro which was not unreasonable and contributes to preservation of the ship. You have free range of the deck, and access to a reasonable part of the lower decks including Captain's quarters and berthing compartments, which contain historical displays and artifacts related to the ship. If you like things "nautical" you will enjoy a visit to the ship. She has been thru a lot, was scuttled, raised, and served as a training ship for three navies. That she still survives is remarkable.
