Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was a bit disappointed when I first time entered the theater. From outside it looks magnificent and I expected one of those richly decorated breathtaking interiors I know from other European theaters. But it is so simple that it resemble more cultural center than national opera. Vistiors coming to watch ballet in jeans and sweaters only increase that feeling.
Performance I saw there was amazing though, perfect life music, breathtaking ballet. Simply highlight of the season.

Quaint opera house. Very busy with a lot of types of musical entertainment. Its easy to access and lots of shops, cafés etc around.

I love opera and this is a beautiful house in the best part of Hannover. VERY Reasonable prices. SUPER friendly staff and very helpful.

BUT

Be forewarned there doesn't seem to be any opera so great that German artistic composers aren't able to screw it up with their interpretations. Seriously, the music and singing may be fine but it is entirely likely the interpretation will be so weird that it is quite distracting.

So if you go see Mozart and the star soprano is a bag lady or an astronaut just close your eyes and enjoy it

We paid 50 EU and had great seats. Saw La Forza Del Destino and the singing was terrific. The acoustics of the building are great. Free coat check and shorter queues at the restrooms than other houses. We will go again next time we visit Germany.

Since Hannover is not such a big city, I was somewhat surprised how big and beautiful Opera house can be found there.

Our cab driver recommended that we see an opera while in Hannover and we weren't disappointed. Compared to shows in the States the cost was extremely reasonable. We saw Candide, the cast and music were great. We sat towards the front and thoroughly enjoyed watching the orchestra and the enthusiasm of the conductor. It was a very entertaining production and evening.

A wonderful opera, "The Elixir of Love". We enjoyed it a lot. But the staff and ticket sellers in the theater were very unfriendly and that spoiled our experience.

The opera Onegin.
Plus points:
Good acoustics
Good orchestra
The lead singer was excellent, a few other singers were acceptable

It's a real shame:
The director not only ripped the action out of the context of the time in a very primitive modern way (a product of wannabe art) and thereby made it confusing, but also clearly reduced and simplified the many themes of the piece mercilessly...
Not all singers were good enough, Olga sang like a 2000 kg ballerina would have danced.

We went to see The Magic Flute with the family yesterday and I am really more than disappointed. The stage design remained boring, monotonous, cold and modern until the end. The production was not worthy of an opera. Tamino runs around in his pajamas until almost the end, the Queen of the Night was also dressed more like she had just come from a bad party and Papageno in jeans and a "Rebel Bird" shirt. It is no wonder that the audience only comes in jeans and hoodies. Where is the charm, where is my dream opera experience where you dress up and have an "enchanting" evening? I don't want to experience opera like that anymore. Even if it was for children, I don't want my children to imagine it like that. It was our 5th visit to the opera with the whole family. During Hansel and Gretel last year I cried when I saw the 14 angels because it was so stunningly beautiful and you really are enchanted. This time I would have preferred to go to the cinema.
