The museum occupies only the north wing of the newly rebuilt palce of Braunschweig's dukes. It helps understand the day-to-day life of these aristocrats. You can see a dining salon, a gaming room, a study, an audience room and the magnificent throne room.

The Schloss façade hides a massive shopping centre (visit the loos for self cleaning loo seats!). The Schloss Museum a reproduction of some of the Baroque rooms of the former palace. Worth a quick look if you are interested in that period.

Recently renovated but highly recommended with all the beautiful room rebuilt in the old fashion style. The Audio guide help you to understand all the details of the history of Braunschweig and the palace. Staff is nice and kind. Highly recommended.

You can see the landscape of Braunschweig from the top of the Schloss under the gigantic statue which is the same one on the Brandenburger Tor in Berlin. Only, this one is bigger !
