Great location for a concert, wonderful acoustics. A beautiful building inside and out. The square outside the theatre is lovely with cafes and bars in the vicinity. The building looks even more stunning at night when it is lit up by the characterful street lights.

I visited the “Carmina Burana” just couple of months ago. The building is beautiful both outside and inside. The hall is quite modern, great sound.

This is a typical Opera house type restaurant where you can expect to pay €80 for just a main course each and bottle of water. The food was quite good and schnitzel. Was very tender. My white asparagus €39 with the schnitzel was a bit...More

The architecture of this building is absolutely stunning. It is located in a pedestrian area with a large fountain in the front and the park is beside it, making it a lovely area to be in. We booked tickets from Canada, for two different concerts...More

When you're in Frankfurt, you should go and see the building. If you don't manage to get tickets for one of the concerts or events, at least go and have a look from the outside and walk around. It's a beautiful building. But you should...More

An Institution you cannot miss, when visiting Frankfurt. All big balls in the city are being held here and the illumination at night is glamorous.

Well worth a look as the photo opportunities are many. I didn't go inside but wandered about the outside and took pictures.

Me and my buddy will be coming through there on our way to Windhoek Namibia. We are spending the day here on July, 3 and heard there was a fest going on then. Does anybody know if there's any truth to this? Alte Oper Fest??? Thanks, JRV

Hi John I see others have answered. I thought I saw some publicity about it while I was in Frankfurt. Sounds like it will be a wonderful few days. Have fun and safe travels.

Is there any way I can pick the ticket up at the location? It would be a waste to have it shipped home for a price that is more than the actual price of the ticket...

Loraine, which concert are you going to? At least there is a "Abendkasse" which opens 1 hour before each concert where you can purchase last minute tickets. Should be possible to deposit already paid tickets there as well... More

Hi! If the concert is inside the opera, then I would definitely recommend wearing something chic. Not necessarily a tie, but a shirt and blazer will do! Hope I could help. Have fun at the concert!
