I was surprised at how much art the museum had and really enjoyed it. I am not a big fan of the "old-greats", but I loved the section with the Impressionists. Monet's' two paintings were my favorite, along with the Picasso portrait.

I arrived shortly after the museum opened on a Sunday morning, and I was able to stroll through without running into crowds. I was happy to see some of my favorites from August Macke, too.

My visit in the Kunsthalle has been very confortable, the texts are easy to read and clear, the work of arts well organized. I appreciated the thematic option, it gives another interest to the visit.

The temporary exhibit at Hamburg's fine art museum was a rather academic take on British artist Thomas Gainesborough and the ways in which he transformed landscape painting. Far more interesting from our point of view -- and good news for tourists planning future trips to...More

Locate next to the central railway station this is a fabulous structure and currently housing a Gainsborough exhibition. Eat location and great picturesque building. Well worth checking out in Hamburg.
