Much of this is about the maritime history of the Altona area. We were there during the Christmas season and there was a wonderful Christmas market going on on each floor of the museum. This was the best Christmas market of all I saw in...More

The showrooms are filled with artefacts from the Scandinavian past of the town of Altona. Ships as models and lots of good explaining.

A large, interesting museum with lots of different aspects, including magic, in a historical look at Altona through the ages. Model ships to see also. No English translations. The restaurant was pricey.

Like many Hamburg museums much of the displays relate to boats.however there is a small section which contains a selection of film projectors and screen showing films from the beginings of the cinema,For me this made the journey worthwhile.I found the rest rather boring.
