All reviews christmas market great market father christmas fantastic christmas mulled wine stalls selling flying overhead open square shopping places city hall lovely square typical german bratwurst beautiful building visited hamburg public transport english tour
Wonderful, impressive the green color of the roof, picturesque with the Christmas market. Very lively at nightfall. At the back there is a square with a fountain, accessible from the side streets to the building. It deserves a visit!
The market here has a variety of foods, drinks and artisan goods. If you only have time for 1 market come here. During December at 6 pm they have Santa Claus fly in with his sleigh overhead. It is a wonderful experience.
Hamburg Christmas Markets are really festive, with a lot of work gone into them. There all sorts spread over town. If possible your better off visiting on a Friday as they get really busy on Saturdays. Every Saturday in December at 2PM they have a...More
The Rathaus Weinachten Markt is the biggest of a number of markets nearby, its at its busiest at night (especially around the Gluwein Stalls) but still is quieter and more enjoyable than other Christmas Markets (Think Edinburgh!).
Wide variety of food and drink.
Went to the market first weekend in December. The booths have very high quality food and christmas “stuff” for sale...no cheap crap at all...BUT be aware of the number of people. Naturally we knew that there would be many but this was insane. The kids...More

Here the stands are lots and various, the people are nice and they’re...More
In our view the best Christmas Market and their are lots in Hamburg. The flying Santa on his sled on the zip wire, the huge lit up light tree, gingerbread house, the food, the stalls and of course the Gluvein makes this a magic experience.

The Christmas markets don't normally open until the first week of Advent, so I'm afraid your visit of Nov 25th is just a little too early. The cabins will all be in place but they'll be setting up, not trading until 27th. The first Hamburg Christmas parade is on Saturday Dec 2nd.The Rathaus itself will be open when you arrive, but tours in English are normally dependent upon numbers, so best ask at the enquiry desk inside. Same dates go for Lubeck and Bremen markets.
