I went to the Morning Service and was particularly impressed with the quality of the music. They had a visiting Madrigal Choir from Kiel and I was blown away. They sang a piece by Buxtehude which to my amazement, made me tear up within minutes....More

Since I was staying at the Citadines, a visit to the St. Michael's Church (or Hauptkirche Sankt Michaelis) had become a daily affair. It's the largest church in Hamburg and its Baroque architecture spellbinds you. A landmark monument this.

Hadn’t intended to visit but glad we did. Inside the church is quite beautiful but the view from the platform is really quite something, very much worth the 5 euro charge.

We only went inside the church, but it was so very beautiful. Visited in the morning so not to many people about. Stunning, peaceful and worth a visit inside. Didn't pay to do the crypt or the tower as it's too much money.

We stumbled across this in passing and didn’t get chance to go in, but it was stunning from the outside. There are some really beautiful buildings around the city.

A trip up the spire is well worth the €5 fee for the views of the city and the harbour. There is a lift if you don't fancy the climb but the stairs are wide and easy to negotiate.
