Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice area for a walk at any time of day or night and you can book boats tours from around here. However, I'd recommend that if you don't want a paid guided tour but want to see around Hamburg port and harbour area jump on one of the ferries that run all day and late into the night. Pay for a single journey and do the whole circuit around the harbour if you want, or jump off and explore a different area then either get back on, or use the great public transport to get back to base. Another single ticket may be needed or go for one of the multi trip/time options to do as you please.

Very interesting place to walk. I visited the Opera, a very modern and unique architecture. The beautiful view of the port. I don't think it's an unmissable tour, but it's very interesting out of curiosity to see such a different and modern building and walk in a place where there's always a crowd of people.

This is definitely my favourite place in Hamburg. Waling along the Elbe you'll get a great view of the impressive harbour. However, I would definitely recommend taking a boat (not a tour, a simple boat, like the 62 or 72) and enjoy the view from the Elbe directly. A must in my eyes!

A mess of a city where the pedestrian is given least right of way.

Public transport isca shambles of diversions and non-integration. Cyclists are dangerous and ride on shared pavements at high speed expecting one to jump out of the way.

We arrived by train from Amsterdam. DB is dreadful. The German trains are seriously late and they expect you to be able make connections in 4 minutes.

At one point the ICE DB train was so late the driver stopped for lunch after crossing the German border.

A dreadful journey. Never travel by DB. Even their train booking system is a mess.

The two-hour ride on the Kleine Heidi is a superb proposition.
This great trick is worth it.
You will discover the canals (former warehouses) as well as the port.
You feel very small in front of the container ships.
Visit exclusively in German but possibility to download an audio guide in French.
Price 45€ per person, we hesitated a little and without haggling we were made a proposal for 80€ for two.
The ballad is well worth it.
Come on the boat about 30 minutes before departure.

It is something special to ride Europe's longest escalator. The great thing is that you can't see where it ends at the top. You ride it to the plaza, from there you can walk around the entire building on the observation deck and let your gaze wander over the harbor and the city. It only costs the time you spend queuing for the ticket, nothing more.

I really enjoyed the tour with the sailing Company we choksejr by coinsidence. We West to the harbour with the mighty Big containerships, had a beer on the deck, and heard a lot of funny stormes from the german tour guide. If You dont understand german, the trip is still perfect.

A charming visit, especially on a sunny day. Enjoy the maze of streets, as well as the port part, visit the Philharmonic building and enjoy the panoramic views (free tickets)
A very ingenious mix between ancient architecture and modern art.

Whether it's spring, summer, autumn or winter - a visit to the Port of Hamburg is always worth a tour. Whether you choose a tour with a provider or prefer to use the public ferries is a personal preference that I value very much. I've had the pleasure of being there four times and each time I discover something new while the port shows itself in a different light. This special location is close to my heart and I can only recommend that everyone take a tour there.

In the middle of the harbor one building attracts special attention:
The Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. A modern building located along the Elbe. The building houses a hotel, apartments and two concert halls.
At a height of 37 m there is a viewing platform with a panoramic view of the city and harbor. Reachable with the longest escalator in the world!
