Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is much smaller version of the famous one in Berlin. It was built in 1770-1771 by order of Frederick II of Prussia as a sign of his victory in the Seven Year War. Each side looks a bit different as two different architects designed each.

Was the place busy? Yes. Busy or not, you need to be here. Take you obligatory pictures. Gawk at the nearby hotel where Michael Jackson showed off his kid. Then stop and take in the hundreds of years of history.
In recent memory, the Gate represented the division and then the reunification of Germany. Reagan did bid Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall at the Gate.
Let the Gate remind you NOT to take your freedom for granted.

The Brandenburg Gate in Potsdam predates its more famous namesake in Berlin by eighteen years. Both gates were similarly named because they were on the route to the town of Brandenburg. This one was designed as a triumphal Arch for Frederick the Great and is said to be a copy of the Arch of Constantine in Rome. Today it stands as a fine structure on Louise Square.

When in Potsdam this is well worth a visit and is opposite the main Church so could take in both at same time.

Nice stop. You can enjoy a coffee in the nearest square and see it in detail. Great walking tour for a one day visit

It’s hard to miss it if walking the centre of Potsdam. Smaller and more ornate gate than that of Berlin. Potsdam people prefer their own Brandenburg Gate.

Iconic monument. Walkable to the monument. Lots of activity. Go early if you want to capture a photo without a lot of people. Otherwise, lots of foot traffic.

This is a smaller version of the more famous one in Central Berlin. Interesting to see and walk through.
