San Souci (meaning “without care”) was the get-away of Frederick the Great (Frederick II). This is not a little cabin in the woods. First we looked at the extensive gardens and forests where he loved growing things. He had 300 gardeners. There are only 30 now. We passed by his grave, also the graves of his beloved 11 dogs. He... We didn't have too much time in Potsdam, so visited for around 1.5 hours. In this time we really enjoyed seeing the grounds and outside of the Sanssouci, as well as the Neues Palace. We really enjoyed ourselves, would possibly like to go inside if we had more time too

The history, people and thought to make such a thing is amazing. The art was interesting for one who is not an enthusiast.

We drove in the morning for about 45min (38Km) from Berlin to Potsdam to reach Sanssouci Palace and buy the first available tickets for a visit on the same day, which was at 15:00 hrs. So we went back to Berlin and came again for the afternoon visit. So, I suggest you buy online tickets ahead of your visit if... More

It is really beautiful. I spent there almost a day, from Berlin and again back there. It would be a nice suggestion for those who have visited Berlin, Because of different atmosphere and short distance.

We visited this palace on a grey and humid day in August. The place was crawling with people. Getting a ticket to the palace was not an easy task. Mainly because the ticketing/reception system was not well thought out. The frau collecting money and issuing tickets was a rude and abrupt woman. Not the sort of person you would expect... More

The rooms in this small, by palace standards, are stunning. There is one room that is lined with shells and crystals and has a somewhat nautical feel. The huge marble room is jaw dropping. No expense was spared in building this gem. On the down side, the audio guide has to be held to your ear so your hands are... More

The palace can be reach easily by bus. The place is smaller than I had imagine. When we reached there, the place is very quiet and not so many people so we could explore the palace in a very pleasant condition.

Difficult to know where to start. We bought Sanssouci+ tickets online, to cover everything in the Park, and with a timed audio tour of Sanssouci Palace. The train from central Berlin was easy and the bus from Potsdam Hauptbahnhof similarly not a problem. It is worth checking train times, also which bus or tram as it seems a number go... More

Frederick the Great was quite the showman with a vivid imagination. A grand palace with a wealth of history.
