Neighbourhood: Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.

A bit of a dated mall but it does have a decent grocery shop right at the back & a large window looking into the Baboon enclosure of the wonderful Zoo.
So one can sit & watch our relatives whilst having a coffee, for free.
Not much else otherwise.

It's a very nice mall, but the stuff in the stores are a expensive, so you need a big wallet. But there is a food court and that's very nice! If you want to have lunch for 15 euros you need to go here!

I landed in Berlin this month without a jacket (yes, rookie travel mistake). I chose to go to Bikini Berlin because of a blurb I read in a magazine about Berlin that it is stylish and hip. It is a contemporary and stylish- looking mall. There are interesting shops (if you like fashion). I stopped in a shop called Studio 183, looking for a coat. The person working there helped me find a warm coat that fit well, right away. What I liked about the store was that all the clothing designers were local to Berlin. I wish I had more time to shop (and more money) because there were quite a few fun dresses in the shop and mall. I was also pleasantly surprised that there was a small Nelson Mandela exhibit going on at the time of my visit.

It is definitely not a typical shopping center as it is addressed to alternative shoppers.
On the upper floor you will find restaurants with different countries cuisines.
Don't miss the big window on the ground floor level, which overlooks the zoo.

Worth a visit to have a drink in the Monkey Bar on the second floor where you can see the monkey enclosure of Berlin Zoo next door. There is also an interesting kiosk where a robot will build a robot out of cardboard for you at a cost of €6.

Hearing about Bikini Berlin with its concept mall conjured in my mind a contemporary place filled with bouncy teenagers pursuing hot fashion trends, and with 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin appealing to the young and beautiful. Actually, the Bikini-Haus has been a Berlin establishment since 1957, and the term “Bikini” was coined at that time for the layout of the building. The recently revamped mall is trendy indeed, but tending to an affluent over-the-age-twenty group. The hotel’s jungle themes are travel inspired and are also in context to the adjacent Berlin Zoo. By a large window area on ground-level of the mall are shoppers sitting or lying on large cushions placed on an immense window sill, watching the antics of monkeys in their mountainous zoo environment. Yet, despite that and its bubbly name, Bikini Berlin is a dignified and controlled mall, its decor minimal, almost industrial. The boutique shops have a leaning toward environmental consciousness, thus austere quality has ousted overt elegance. At the mall I became a constant customer of Kaiser’s takeout gourmet snacks and libation, quite affordable. Thanks to my best friends in Berlin we dined at the lofty NEMI Restaurant which offers Middle-East cuisine and like the Monkey Bar--both on the tenth floor of the Bikini Berlin complex--has an unobstructed view of Berlin. Most unforgettable though was being out on the rooftop terrace of the Monkey Bar at night, where locals and guests seated on cushions around small tables with glowing lights engaged in lively conversations, while my friends and I were taking in the gleaming skyline of our unified Berlin.

The mall is of unconventional design, there is a decent food court but a bit pricey though and some cool stores...

As this was a quirky, concept mall, I did not recognise any of shops. I'll visit the Alexa next time.
