Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have rarely been as impressed as I was by this visit to the large complex. If you can somehow manage the time, the trip is worth it. It is easy to get to the park by public transport.
At this point, everyone will understand how pointless wars are and how people were and are simply being sacrificed. For nothing. As stated in the title, an absolute must.

Visit Duration: 45 minutes
Location: Treptower park
This memorial is divided by 4 parts:
1-At the entrance a three-metre-high sculpture stands representing Mother Russia: a woman grieving for her fallen sons.
2- Mother Russia statue is followed by Two Soviet flags carved from red granite below which two kneeling soldiers.
3- 8 stone sacrophagi lined from each of the two sides, each sacrophagi represents one of the 16 Soviet Republics with relief carvings of military scenes and quotations from Joseph Stalin. Each sacrophagi reliefs illustrate scenes from the "Great Patriotic War".
4- The masterwork of the monument is a conical hill bearing a tomb and providing the pedestal for the Red Army soldier monument. The interior of the crypt is decorated with beautiful mosaic frieze. At the top of the hill stands the 12m bronze sculpture of the Soviet soldier, holding a rescued child in his arm and a lowered sword over a shattered swastika.

I visit this place in last day of November. It was not easy to find and it is far from U-Bahn station. Not to mention that I walked for 1km or so. It was a cloudy, cold evening when I got there. This place impressed me very much. From 2 kneeling solders at the entry till the statue of Soviet solder with the child. I could say this memorial is huge.

Definitely worth a visit to see this monument to the sacrifices of the soviet army in the liberation of Germany. The two tanks flanking the memorial are from the period and when I visited there were plenty of Russians who came to pay respects.

An impressive memorial ground depicting the struggle and sacrifices of the Russians in overcoming the Nazis and sufflering some 25 million dead in the process. Quite modern looking in parts given that it was all constructed (by the Russians) so soon after the end of the war. Undergoing renovation (November 2019) so partly closed but imposing all the same. Easy access from S bahn and busses. Free entrance. No facilities. A significant sight that attract relatively few visitors.

In the Treptower Park you can visit this very impressive memorial, built in rememberance of the soviet victims of WWII. It feels almost like a time travel to see the monumental soviet style statues...

Awestruck by this incredible monument. Great display of the old Russian presence in Berlin. The history behind the statue has to be researched beforehand/during to make it even more remarkable. A definite see during a 3-5 day visit of Berlin... from a person who grew up there.

We visited this by mistake, but so glad it happened. So understated and one of the highlights for our trip to Berlin.
Its tranquil and calm surroundings give you no hint of the death it represents. Very moving and reminiscent of Stalin's 'cult of personality'.
If nothing else, the shear enormity should put this on any Berlin itinerary.

As I am - for my travel guides BertaBerlin - always looking for the hidden gems in Berlin, I visited this place. The largest Soviet memorial in Berlin is actually a war cemetery, with 5.000 soldiers buried there. Visitors at Treptower Park can observe all main elements of the Soviet style: the figure of the mother, who sent her sons to the war, as well memorial slabs and frescos that depict the course of the war, and not forgetting the Stalin quotations. The picture is completed by the imposing figure on top of the mausoleum: a soldier carrying a rescued German child. The soldier puts the sword on the ground, which symbolizes the end of war.
