JJ led us on a very informative and engaging tour across a very cold Berlin. We saw the sights, we learnt the facts, and we heard some brilliant stories too. Caroline would be proud! Well done JJ - I'd definitely recommend.

We did the 'Famous Walk' tour yesterday with Barnaby. He made us feel really welcome in Berlin and gave us a great insight into the city and it's amazing history. Thanks for showing us around your wonderful city. Gav & Merry Sydney Australia

I don't generally write reviews, but this time was different. Cesar, our guide, with a double masters in History and Music was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and affable. The problem with guided tours is that it can get extremely mechanical and not organic enough. Not with Cesar. It was quite a unique experience to visit the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp with him.... More

We did the 4hr "Famous Walk" tour with Barnaby today. Have been on some really stuffy, quite monotonous tours in the past and this was absolutely brilliant. The pace was just right, the factual information well explained and the guide amicable and humorous! The tour divides into old Berlin, Cold War Berlin and Nazi Berlin. We saw things we would... This tour was perfect for a free day (or half day) in Berlin. Brian Bell was an entertaining, energetic, and informative guide! I left feeling like I had seen and learned about plenty of the city, much more than self-exploration I've done in other new places. When I come back with more time I definitely plan to take other tours... More

Took a day tour to Sachsenhausen and the tour leader Maria gave us one of our best tours full of history and facts. We really enjoyed asking questions that we all answered throughly and with great details. This is one tour I would highly recommend.

We visited Berlin for a few days in September and took two of the walking tours offered by Insider Tours while we were there... for both, you meet the staff and pick up/pay for your tickets at your appointed time near the McDonalds in front of the Berlin Zoo train station... several tours will be checking in there, so make... This is a very powerful and moving tour. Jared was an excellent guide who provided a lot of history and background. He gave us a comprehensive understanding of the Nazis and the Sachsenhausen camp. I learned so much more than I would have on my own. Highly recommended.

We had Rick as our guide. He was knowledgeable, entertaining and relaxed and he kept the interest levels up. This was easily the best way to get an intro to the history and sites of Berlin if you're pushed for time. Many of the places we visited you could easily have overlooked or walked straight past if you didn't know... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
