We took the Famous Insider walk with Insider Tour on Friday 26th Nov. It was absolutely fabulous. Maria our guide was brilliant. Incredibly knowledgeable, very funny and a lovely person. This tour takes you to all the major sites in Berlin and gives you loads of history too. It's quite a long way (we walked about 10 miles in total... More

The first thing you must do when visiting Berlin is to take this tour. Our tour guide 'JJ' was superb. During the entire 4-hour walking tour he regaled us with stories of the city's historical significance, cultural force and promising future. He is clearly a scholar complemented by a sense of humor that is light and airy - even when... More

Jamie was a great tourer. He has a real in depth knowledge and understanding of the city with some great stories that put the history and politics into context. My girlfriend and I realised we did not really know much at all about the cold war. Jamie managed to start from the very start and keep it interesting for all... More

Our fantastic and knowledgeable guide JJ took us to the main sites (and helped us skip the not so authentic ones like Check Point Charlie). It was a great way to cover off the main sites in 4.5 hours (even in the miserable rain) identifying the ones I want to come back to visit in a bit more detail at... More

This was my second time taking this tour -- the first was 13 years ago. It was better than I remembered it being. Our guide Taylor was knowledgeable and entertaining (if just a tad bit rehearsed). He was able to answer all questions and took as at a great pace. The tour covers a ton of history in 4 hours,... More

Despite the cold weather, 4 hours flew by on this tour. Fantastic way to see this wonderful city & our brilliant tour guide Barnaby was funny and informative and brought the city's history to life for us all. Would totally recommend this tour as a great way to see the city and learn so much along the way.

Very thorough and very informative tour around Berlin with Phil. We started on the East side and worked our way through all of the historical parts of Berlin. Phil was absolutely fantastic as he wove a story from the early history of Berlin up through modern times. We ended up at the Brandenburg Tor where Phil stayed until all of... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
