Neighbourhood: Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.

This was one of the best and liveliest bars that we found while wandering around the superb and eclectic Prenzlauer Berg district.
A proper pubby interior with nice decor and great furnishings with a superb terrace .
As it was a really beautiful evening all the tables were full outside but no matter as it was so nice sitting in such a cosy bar.
A very pleasant member of staff took our order of a couple of refreshing beer's,we opted to have a nice beer from the Czech Republic and ordered Svijany beer and these beer's were served iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and chilled out and soaked up the great atmosphere of this superb bar.
This is certainly a popular bar and on our visit was really starting to get busy with a cracking atmosphere but with beer's served in this good a condition hardly surprising really.
Although we only stayed for the one beer before we moved on we had a great time in this wonderful bar.
Very easy to locate on Lychener Straße in the superb and dynamic Prenzlauer Berg district which is an area packed with pubs, bars and restaurants.
Opening hours are;
Sunday to Thursday,7pm till 1am.
Friday and Saturday,7pm till 3am.
A superb bar and one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area.

Amalgam bar is an excellent bar in a very busy area of Berlin were there are a couple of interesting bars and pubs.Located in an area of Berlin called Prenzlauer Berg on a very lively street'we had just visited a pub called Zum Schusterjungen and we were on our way to a craft beer bar that is called Salt'N'Bone when we decided to go in here and have a quick beer.A nice bar that has a cosy candle-lit interior with good seating options and a nice bar and bar area.There is also an excellent outside seating area in the front of this bar which is an excellent area when the weather is fine.When here we opted to sit inside as all of the outside seating was taken and ordered a few pints of Berliner Kindl which was excellent and at a very decent price.This is a great bar in a great area of Berlin and a bar well worth a visit.Located on Lychener straße and an easy bar to find from Eberswalder straße metro or tram stop walk down Danziger straße then turn left onto Lychener straße a few minutes walk.
