My son and I decided to visit Treptower park out of curiosity. We were amazed by such a stunning memorial to fallen soviet soldiers. The masterpiece is the towering figure of the soviet soldier holding a child. The battle for Berlin is explained by pictorial...More

This somehow sums it up for me what East Berlin was about when it came to a park. It’s large, with a ginormous statue and large symmetrical forms. A place that combines the horror of WW2, the bygone USSR era and a green spot at...More

We were staying in apartment a few minutes walk from here and if we hadn't have bumped into a person on the bus home we wouldn't have known this was here! Great to see the Russian architecture. They sure knew how to create imposing statues!

I love this park. Walk along the spree, lay around in the grass, visit the Soviet antifascist monument and hang out in a beautiful park with less hipsters, no criminals, and though outside the craziness of the busy center, it is still easily connected to...More

We were blown away by the sheer scale of this Russian War Memorial. The stone carvings leading up to the statue told the story of the Russian Campaign and framed the conquering Russian carrying a child from the ruins of Berlin. Well worth a visit....More

Berlin has plenty of tall and grand buildings that inspire but this place will hold a special memory for us - it is beautifully designed and inspiring

This monument to Soviet soldiers is pompous, statue is huge! Big as Soviet Union itself :) Park is easily reached, maybe 15 minutes walk from nearest S-Bahn station. Place is free to visit.

The memorial at treptower park is huge, compared to the monuments in the city center Im almost sure this one wins by size. It's an open area with attributes dedicated to the Russian/Sovjet military. Its a bit further than the other sightseeings in Berlin (4/5km...More

While much of former East Germany has been re-developed, this cold war monument to Russian soldiers killed in WW2 is a time capsule that shows both the anger and loss at what Russia endured, but also the power they exerted over East Berlin.
