Zoo Berlin is home to over 15.000 rare and endangered animals representing more than 1.500 species and subspecies. It is the most speciose zoo worldwide. Zoo Berlin is located in heart of Berlin, opposite to the train station Zoologischer Garten.

The tasks our zoos of today are faced with are many and diverse. And there is more than one reason to keep animals. Since 1844 visitors to Zoo Berlin can relax and learn. Comparable with a living, green oasis the zoo today lies directly at the heart of the city. Here you can relax and learn new facts about the most diverse zoological subjects as your interest takes you.

Visited is zoo on 14th at roughly mid day. Bought the ticket online which is easier for tourists as the booking office barely spoke English. When visiting the zoo there was a lot of construction going on, which was a bit disruptive. A lot of enclosures were empty because they hadn't let the animals out yet. We went to visit... More

A zoo with no barriers! Well ok that sounds a little scary, but for those that have visited zoos in the U.K. they tend to have an array of fences. They do quite frankly get in your way. Not here in Berlin though. They opt for big ditches which allows for an uninterrupted view of the animals, and glass windows.... More

A nice zoo. The monkey area is a must see. We spent like 3 hours in the Zoo. Cafe basic but very reasonable prices. Highly recommended to everyone.

Spent great 6 hours at the Zoo Berlin. It's definitely the best Zoo we have ever visited. There are a lot of attractions and the Zoo is pretty well organized. We really enjoyed the sea-lions show, some of the feedings and the night animals area. Definitely worth the visit. There should be more translations in English in order to be... More

My teenaged son and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the zoo, which is well laid out and very interesting. We enjoyed reading about the zoo's history and how it was affected during World War 2.

A well maintained city zoo A good variety of animals and educational facilities The great apes were a highlight The entry price is vastly lower than a comparable zoo in UK Beware of the gift shop. You can easily spend more on a plush toy than on your entrance fee

Spent a pleasant three hours here. The weather and the time of the year didn't do the zoo justice but there was plenty of indoor places to visit. The animals looked well cared for though it's not nice that they are captive. At least the elephants here won't be poached for their ivory! The Pandas are returning in the Summer.... More

My partner and I spent a day at the zoo and aquarium after purchasing a combo ticket which was such a good price. There were so many different animals and we loved seeing that they all looked well looked after. There is so much to see and it is a very large zoo so lots of walking, we also loved... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
