We took the bus out there which was very easy. It is in a nice suburban wooded setting. It is a small museum. We saw a show on Emil Nolde. I wasn't all that familiar with him but was very impressed. If you like German Expressionism, this is a must. As you know, these colorful paintings are far more exciting... More

It is worth making the trek out to Grunewald, a forested part of Berlin and quite far from the center. We were hoping to see their unique collection of the "Brucke" (the bridge) artists, who painted in Dresden from 1905. But instead their was a temporary exhibition of the works of Emil Nolde, which was absolutely excellent if you like... More

This museum is difficult to get to, a bit out of the way but definitely worth a visit as the collection is excellent on Modern/Expressionist German masters. However the permanent collection is not on view in separate galleries, the museum organizes exhibits in which they include their holdings from the permanent collection that pertains to the exhibit. I went when an... More

Gorgeous small gallery near Grunewald park. Despite being in a quiet out of the way area, it worth the trip.

The museum is beautiful, built in the 60's, and there are always interesting exhibitions. Today we saw the current NOLDE exhibition which was extremely fascinating. Emil NOLDE is a painter who has fascinated me for a long time. Here there were works dating from 1901-1950. NOLDE is a remarkable painter!

If you like German expressionist art - than it is a must. The museum is outside of the main tourist routes, but you can easily get there by public transport. It is worth to visit. The exhibition of Karl Schmidt-Rottluff is just extraordinary.

We took public transportation, which is easily done to the outskirts of Berlin to see the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff exhibit. I've never seen so many of his paintings under one roof and I don't think I'll ever have that opportunity again. The show was fantastic! The staff was lovely. The size of the museum is very manageable. Photo without flash allowed.... More

We had wanted to visit this museum for some time but always were unable to make it. We were determined not to leave Berlin without seeing it this time so set off early to Storkowere Strasse S bahn station and took ring bahn 42 to Hozenhollerdam station. From there we got the 115 bus and got out at Püeckler Strasse... More

The Museum has a big Collection of the Brücke-Group. The rooms are too small to display all of it. When we visited they showed an exhibition of Max Pechstein which included several of his masterworks.
