This is a huge structure near the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag Building. Our knowledge guide informed us that the monument is built in the rubble from Berlin.. Very imposing and well worth a photo or two.

The Soviet War Memorial was handsome in its Stalinist way. A curving colonnade of dignified classical proportions displayed stellae honoring each division of the Soviet military involved in World War II in Germany. Topping the colonnade was a bronze statue of a soldier looking somber...More

Walking back from a play park in the tier Garten we came across this, it’s a very large and impressive structure flanked by two tanks and field guns. Not much more to say really.

We were making our way on foot from viewing the Reichstag towards Strasse de 17 Juni on the way to the monument at Groser Strern, when we spotted a memorial and approached it from the rear. So pleased we went to investigate. Giving short shrift...More

We walked past on the way to victory column from Brandenburg gate. A reminder of an era, which Berlin was ay heart of in some aspects and still one can feel that when exploring.

If you can avoid the so-called charity volunteers trying to get you to sign a petition and. . . then give money, spend time looking at this monument and reflecting on the heroism and also the terrible behaviour of the Soviet forces in that great...More

This is an impressive Soviet memorial to the soldiers who died during WW2 and specifically in the fall of Berlin. There is a small but informative museum located behind it which I would recommend. I would also recommend this to anyone visiting Berlin who is...More
