We found our visit to Spandau Citadel very interesting and enjoyable. It was not crowded at all and we enjoyed wandering about. It is located about 30 minutes from central Berlin and sits on a small island in the Havel River. The 16th-century Spandau Citadel is one of the world’s best-preserved Renaissance fortresses in Europe and includes a moat with... More

Spandau and the citadel are a great half-day trip if you're in Berlin. This Italian-style fortress has an interesting history. The self-guided audio tour is good. Getting to and from Spandau from downtown is a snap, and walking around the old town center is worth the trip alone.

There is a lot to see here and it may take more than one visit. I saw the Cammander's House, tower, City History Museum Spandau and the Parade Hall. It was cold so, after a walk around the grounds, I called it a day. I will see the rest next year. I think that the Zitadelle U-Bahn station is closed... More

I went their with my sister and brother. First , it is not crowded so no one will annoy you. It was the first time i visit a fortress. I found it quite interesting to see the the cannons and the tower. You can also see that it was lower than it is now. It has different kind of gallery... More

We stayed there on December 3, at dusk with an amazing sunset. So we could take very good and impressive photos from the outside and inside, also from the tower. It is an authentic historical construction with a typical architecture, so it is absolutely not correct what another person wrote (,large supermarket car park surrounded by office buildings'). The Spandau... More

I think the best place in Zitadelle is the tower. You can see very nice panorama of Spandau and Berlin from here. There are a lot parks around the place which makes it magic especially in the autumn. River Havel floats around the Spandau Citadel and gives nice reflections for good photos. What I liked very much is a collection... More

The approach to this 'attraction' is a half mile walk from the nearest underground station past rows of car dealerships. You then cross a beautiful moat and approach what promises to be a stunning historical monument. You pay your entrance fee and go into what looks like a large supermarket car park surrounded by office buildings. It means you pay... More

The food was great, the service was great. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Although i would advise seeing if you could split the meal for three people as it is a lot of food.

The visit to Spandau on our last day in Berlin was a bit of a time-waster... Once at the entrance (took a while to find from the railway stn) with no signs or directions to follow, we had to pay for the tickets to walk around on our own (audio guide not included in the price! !!) After climbing up... More

This is a picturesque fort with plenty interesting exhibitions and historical interest. The tower has great views over the city and the exhibits span centuries of German history.
