We went to see the Staatsoper perform Mozarts Magic Flute last week. Excellent performance, fine singers, good orchestra. Ticket prices did not 'break the bank'. Schiller Theatre - probably built in the 50's has comfy seats and a steep rake so you can see well....More

It felt like I was watching an opera with high quality that knew a bit too well that they were among the best in the world to perform the opera. I watched Fidelio by Beethoven, and it was excellent due to perfection, technique etc. Some...More

We got ticket for Giselle with the State Ballet and, as the main theatre is closed for renovation, the Schiller is the replacement place. That was great: we had great seats without any view restrictions and the acoustic of the theatre is very good. Pity...More

We were really impressed with the acoustics in this (presumably 1950s) rectangular box of a concert hall that will house the Staatsopera until 2018 I think while their amazing central Berlin building is being rebuilt. We saw Daniel Barenboim on the piano accompanying Lieder and...More

I attended the opera Faust with the wonderful tenor Pavol Breslik in this theater on December 10. I was surprised by how small the theater is. I liked that - it was very intimate. I was sitting in the front row and there you have...More

Went with a colleague who bought tickets for the Die Zauberflöte. Great opera and artists. The theatre itself is not as grand as one could hope with such a great scenography . Nonetheless a great experience.
