We visited the area and wasn't really that impressed by it. The whole area is clean with some shops and restaurants, but ti didn't feel like it was 'old town' and the area is actually really small.

Even though this landed in the est Germany side of Berlin, the communists did a good job at restoring the old buildings. Close to the hearts of imperial Berlin, this neighborhood is so beautiful!

The Nicholas Quarter, or Nikolaiviertel, is the restored part of old Berlin. It is lovely to wander through, with shops and restaurants. A pleasant area to spend some time.

I walked around the Nicholas Quarter (Nikolaiviertel) in September 2018. There were a lot of shops and restaurants. I took photos of the key sights which included the Saint Nicholas Church (Nikolaikirche) and City Hall (Rathaus). I only had one hour so hopefully during my...More

Berlin was practically totally rebuild after the World War II in a Modern style and it’s hard to imagine how the buildings were before this sad part of the history happened but we think you can find a piece of this history in Nikolaiviertel (Nichola’s...More

This is a really pretty part of Berlin and has been well restored. Easily combined with a visit to the Nikolaikirche, Marienkirche, rotes Rathaus and the altes Stadthaus. Some nice traditional German restaurants to try around here also and not much traffic so it's a...More
