Top ways to experience Warschauer Strasse and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.

Go for a walk and discover the awesome street art and graffiti, grab something to eat (especially if you're looking for kebab/falafel), have a drink in one of the bars. The East Side Gallery is also not far. In the evenings there are usually buskers making music at the S-Bahn-Station, which is also worth a visit!

Sin is in. Come one, come all, we'll have a kebab. Seriously, awesome kebabs all along the street. Some decent currywurst, but not the best. Stick to kebabs. The main thoroughfare of the two neighborhoods it connects. Warschauer is a circus. So many people on the weekend evenings, all night drinking and parting on the streets. You can witness love, fist fights, homeless encampments, beautiful architecture, cheap or expensive food, nightclubs and so so so so much more. All on one street. And if not, its on one of the streets than run into and across it. You cannot go to Berlin and not trek this street on a Friday night at 1am. It's a life experience.

Gets lively after 10/11pm on weekends but any of the places which have door staff are racist. They can easily ruin your trip due to their ignorance to anyone who doesn’t speak German or is different skin colour. With the past history of the country and the city it’s a shame that these type of people live amongst us... I dunno what the their backroads are like ex military etc but avoid any bar club here that has door staff if your not local you may get trouble...

I have been to Berlin many times on business and pleasure, but I took a Red Walking Tour of Berlin last year. The end of the tour focused on a section of the old East near Warschauer Strasse. It was most interesting. The streets are filled with old Soviet Style apartment blocks that were built for the Worker's Paradise, and then it's a brisk walk to the Warschauer Strasse station along which you see major remaining portions of the old Berlin Wall. The area has been quite hip and very retro. I understand nightlife is really good there as well. I highly recommend visiting this area.

Staying in the area I find myself walking around a lot and the view from the nearest bridge looking downtown is hreat cause you see the TV tower in the back as well. Make sure to walk into the park as well for a grwat view of the true life of Berliners. If you want to grab beer there are some places to sit on the canal or walk to Park Center to the grocery store (called real) inside for a budget traveler.

Get off at the subway station "Schlesisches Tor" and walk the last station towards Warschauer Strasse. See the Oberbaumbrucke, which connects Kreuzberg to Friedrichshain, best view on the TV Tower (Fernsehturm) and the Molecule Men.
From the bridge on the left the East Side Gallery... walk it up and down, get back to Warschauer Strasse to drink a coffee @goodies.

If you are getting hungry, check the Simon-Dach area. Better the area than the street itself, which has too many restaurants.

Warschauer strasse is easily accessibly by underground and s-bahn (station: Warschauer strasse). It is a good place for a walk, you cross the Spree river. You can go and watch the Berlin mauser and the famous graffiti. There are also a lot of good night clubs there so it is a good place to visit at night also. You will definatelly meet a lot of young people walking through the streets then. We especially recommend the Watergate club at this location it is loceated by the river and has glass wall so you get a nice view. It were there in autumn, but it must be also fun during summer as there is a balcony there.
