Being a huge Bowie fan this was a must for me in Berlin. We met on a cold Sunday afternoon and it was clear from the start this wasn’t just going to be a walking tour visiting 'Bowie’s blue plaques of Berlin' but a much more integrated, informative tour of Bowie's Berlin. Phillipp, our guide clearly has a passion for... More

I did two tours of the famous Hansa studio's (Bowie, U2, Depeche Mode, Iggy Pop, etc.,) and a walking tour of David Bowie's Berlin. The first took you back in time to a golden era of music in the 1970s and 1980s with a guide who is a walking encyclopedia of music. The second was by a guide who is... More

The David Bowie music tour was absolutely the best tour I've ever been on. Was a little nervous about the fact it was roughly 4 hours but it was phenomenal. I loved every minute. Philipp was a fantastic guide, truly passionate about Bowie and able to integrate Bowie's life and Berlin's history in a stunning way. Highly highly recommend for... More

We had a really enjoyable walking tour with our guide Philipp, on a sunny but cold Berlin Sunday afternoon. Philipp's knowledge and passion for Bowie was clear, but so was his knowledge of the history of Berlin from the Wall-era onwards. I expected to learn a lot about Bowie and his time in Berlin, but I also learned so much... More

Took the Bowie Walking Tour with Philip with my 20 year old son who loved it. This was my second time and as before found everything about the walk fascinating. Philip is an excellent guide - funny, erudite and with an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Bowie in Berlin. M The interweaving of the recent history of the city with... More

I enjoyed this tour so much I'm giving my first ever (and probably last) trip advisor review! For any Bowie fan, die hard or casual, I can only but this very simple - you must do the David Bowie walking tour. All the major places if interest from Bowie's time in Berlin are covered here; Hansa studio, the flat his... More

Just back from a chilly weekend in brilliant Berlin, that ended with the Bowie walking tour. Six of us took the tour, some big Bowie fans and a couple not at all. It is testament to Phillip's skills that as we all sat in " Bowies bar" after a hugely enjoyable tour everybody loved it. A great mix of History,... More

We had a superb tour of Hansa Studios with Thilo - he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the place and everyone who has worked there. The tour also gave us an insight of how Berlin was pre- and post-wall, and the multimedia presentation was particularly good. This is a 'must-see' for anyone interested in music who visits Berlin.

I took the Bowie walking tour. Our guide Philipp was hilarious and just the right kind of die-hard Bowie fan that you want to guide you through Bowie's Berlin. Lots of details and stories I didn't know, plenty of interesting background and contextual history, really gave me a better understanding of what the city was like when Bowie lived there... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
