An interesting church

St. Mary's Church has a unique red and white exterior. It is one of the few remaining German/Romanesque High Gothic churches left in Germany. It is on the Market Square. Built... read more

I stayed in Wurzburg for a while and this became my place of refuge; beautiful architecture, quiet and relaxing place to meditate and unwind. And just a few steps outside you find many shopping places and restaurants to get back to the real world

This is a very distinct Gothic styled Chapel with its distinct red and white color combination exterior located in front of Marktplatz. The interior is rather simple and nothing spectacular.

Wonderful, right on the square and I'm the midst of hustle and bustle - but offers a quiet and beautiful experience.

Sits on the perimeter of the Market Square and it cannot be missed with its distinctive red and white exterior. It is the finest Gothic building in the town.

This Church/chapel is very nice from outside, however the inner part isn´t really surprising. I would rather recommand to visit the Dom and the hofkirche instead of this one.

St. Mary's Church has a unique red and white exterior. It is one of the few remaining German/Romanesque High Gothic churches left in Germany. It is on the Market Square. Built onto the side of the church are shops. Supposedly this is like it was in the Middle Ages. There are 3 doors to this church. At the south side... More

St. Mary's Chapel, which is late Gothic, had to be reconstructed like everything else in this beautiful city that should never have been a target of bombing. The job the people did is wonderful, even leaving in place certain features to show you what couldn't be replaced or rebuilt. The interior is as unique as the exterior because this one... More

The outside of the Chapel is more exciting than the inside, but it is good for a short visit in combination with the market square and the other sites of the old city of Würzburg.

Started in 1377, it was finished in 1481 as a symbol of the self-confident town men. Inside are tombstones of Franconian knights and Wurzburg citizens such as Konrad von Schaumberg (by Tilman Riemenschneider) and Balthasar Neumann. At the portal are Riemenschneider`s world famous sandstone sculptures of Adam and Eve

The church is not a must see but if you have time its worth a visit. The internal design is amazing and there is so much detail in the workmanship.
