Hey, you're in a walled medieval city - you gotta walk the walls. I walked in the afternoon and morning - great way to enjoy the city from (slightly) above. We started down at the Spitalkirche and walked up to Galgentor.

We walked the walls for 30 minutes or so. You can get on and off at several locations throughout the village. I would recommend going in the late afternoon to view the sunset. Make sure to wear good walking shoes!

Got over a little bit of my fear of heights and went with the family for a walk for part of the wall. Be sure to stop and take in the views. Interesting and unique perspective from up there- overlooking town buildings and some homes. My only complaint is that people bring their dogs up there and a few didn't... More

We walked on the wall, not all the way around, but a good bit. You can see lots of the city as well as outside the walls. We noticed all the bricks that contained names but were not aware until we did the Night Watchman's Tour what the meaning is. After Rothenburg was bombed they sold the rights to help... More

An interesting free walk above the historic town of Rothenburg ob der tauber. Narrow and undulating with low beams in places. Pity city has allowed individuals and corporates to buy 'plaques' which have been inlaid into the wall.

We have discovered that there is no other town as beautiful in Bavaria as Rothenburg, the walls go mostly all around the town and it makes a difference once you have walked through them. It is worth staying at least overnight to really appreciate everything the town has to offer. Gorgeous architecture, spotlessly clean and friendly people.

A lovely way to spend a leisurely hour or two getting an excellent overview of the Old Town or the surrounds out side the walls. It is always pleasurable to look into the lovely back gardens of the beautiful old homes and just to observe people going about their ways. The walls are very easy to walk on and it... More

At the end of a day of wandering around the streets of Rotherburg, just before dusk I persuaded my family to take a walk around part of the ancient walls of this beautiful town. The challenge turned out to be to get the child’s pram up the steep stairs leading up to the ramparts. But we managed it and then... More

Rothenburg will always hold a special place in my heart. My husband and I did not set out to walk the entire wall, but that is what we ended up doing. Great views of the town, and a wonderful experience.
