Interesting old town. Some beautiful architecture of the past. Lots of gift shops and restaurants. Loads of tourists. One disappointing factor is the hundreds, yes hundreds of cigarette butts that litter the streets. It would make sense to have some sort of disposal receptacles for them. It certainly is disgusting to see them all over the cobbled streets. It certainly... More

Despite being overrun by tourists, this little town has kept its beauty and cleanliness. Though I have heard that it can get very busy due to tourists, I did not see this in early April. I recommend getting their snowballs, a fried dough of some sort. One note: Most shops are closed on Sunday.

Beautiful village where to get lost on the romantic route. The visit to the city can be done in mid-day, there are enough candy shops to buy the typical dessert of the city, the Schneeball. It is worth doing the night tour with the Nightwatchman, who explains the history of the city, in English.

Rothenburg is well and truly on the well-worn tourist track but is so damned quaint and ridiculously photogenic that it really is a must see. There are lovely old buildings as far as the eye can see, and the old town walls and the Burggarten are well worth some time. We stayed in Nuremberg and caught the train down for... More

We made a day trip to Rothenburg while staying in Nuremburg. Except for the actual surrounding wall (which is quite cool to walk on), I found the town to be inauthentic and overly expensive. It could be that I was expecting too much based on all the 'must see' rave reviews, but it was a disappointing visit. It makes for... More

Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber is one of the best kept secrets in Germany. It is like going back in time. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones you may at times feel like you are on a set of the show. Take a look at my pics and they will speak for how the town really looks!! Like... More

Typical medieval town with a lot of history and anecdotes the church of saint jacobo impressive, but very early closed suveniers shops and restaurants little variety to go to eat or buy, it seems that they are not very interested in tourism

During the day and on weekends this town will be flooded with bused in tourists. However, it is absolutely worth a visit. Plan to spend the night and enjoy the quiet mornings and nights. The town is most beautiful during these times of day anyway. Lots of great restaurants and hotels to choose from.

Walk along the outer wall & climb the main tower to enjoy a marvelous view of roofs and gardens. Before Easter it was a quite place with not much tourists, which allows nice walks and visits, and lets you enjoy restaurants and terraces without queuing.
