Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A doable 15 minutes it took us to walk from Fussen to Lechfall. We first saw it on a map and thought it would be interesting to explore—and it is. You can also take a bus and taxi. We thought our walk was quite entertaining observing the countryside. If you have a car, just watch-out when you pull-out.

About 12,000 years ago an Ice Age cut through a gorge and eventually a 158 mile/255KM river. Today the Lech River has 33 hydroelectric plants making valuable electricity for the region.

In the 18th Century the cataracts were transformed into ledges. The beautiful blue waters flow across these ledges today. The day we visited there was a good amount of water which hid the ledges. Regardless, the area does make good photographs.

Just a short way from the 5 ledges is a high cliff in a short gorge with a bust of Maximilian II. He brought peace between Roman Catholics and Protestants in the 16th century. He was “King of Bohemia” and a Holy Roman Emperor.

In Fussen, we thought the Museum of Fussen to be quite interesting and worth while. It was once an Abby and a Town Hall. The Library is quite stunning and you may come across pictures of it in Fussen. I have a picture of the Library on my computer screen.

For your information: Of the attached pictures, the two with the calmer water are from our visit 2 years ago in good weather, the other picture is from this year in rainy weather.

The Lechfall is definitely worth a visit! We visited the Lechfall 2 years ago, so this is the second time. Unlike then, the Lech was very grey due to the weather and the water just shot over the Lechfall. Last time we had better weather, which meant that the water was a beautiful bluish color and the Lechfall was not so wild.

The place offers a few opportunities for taking photos, and there are also toilets on site. The only thing that is very unfortunate is the parking situation. There are only about 10-15 parking spaces, no more. Getting a parking space there is practically impossible, unless you go late at night and/or in bad weather.

All in all, the Lechfall is definitely worth a visit!

The Lech falls over 5 steps. Nice to look at when in the area. In spring, after the snow has melted, probably the most beautiful.

There is a small parking lot directly at the Lechfall. You can park there for free. It's not even 100 meters on foot. Especially in the early morning hours or towards evening there are fewer tourists on site. It is also even more beautiful when the sun rises / sets behind the mountains and trees.

Certainly not a top-class natural spectacle, but still worth a visit if you are in the area. There is a small kiosk across the street.
Easy to reach, even with a stroller or something else.
On the opposite side of the street, at the kiosk, it goes up to the Kalvarienberg. It offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area. However, some stamina and good shoes are recommended. The way up is steep and long

Absolutely amazing waterfall and bathing place. Besides the fact that it's a great sight to see, I also highly recommend bringing a towel and spend some time on the shore upstream, next to the waterfall. Very relaxing, great view and fresh, mountaincold water to cool off in

After a late afternoon walk through Fussen's old town and castle, we walked the additional 20 minutes or so to this waterfall. It was fairly impressive, and there were a couple different viewpoints for it. After the falls, we walked back east along the far side of the Lech River to the bridge, a nice stroll that made for an enjoyable evening. It was definitely worth the time to come outside of town and enjoy the scenery.

On the outskirts of Füssen, you will find the Lechfall, which is around 12 metres high and has 5 stages. You can easily combine the visit with a day trip to Füssen, there are various hiking trails. You can cross the bridge at the viewing platform and go back through the forest to the town centre of Füssen, or you can also take the main road. Depending on the time of year, the Lechfall sometimes has more or less water...

Beautiful and powerful falls but make sure you do it when the river is lowish. I went after it rained and the water height was up and I couldn’t see the steps properly. Still a great site and must see when in Fussen.

The waterfall is located just outside central Füssen, a 10 minute walk towards the Austrian border.
The waterfall itself is not very spectacular, but it's located in a nice setting and definitely worth a visit.
Entrance is free.

Wonderful panorama view of the Leech lake and waterfall, especially from the main bridge. It's definetely worth stopping by if you are in the area, such as for visiting the historic castles. You don't need a ticket for this one. There is also a free small parking lot in front of the main scenic spot, as well as clean toilets. PS: This waterfall is man-made.

We walked from feet about 20 min. to Lechfall. A nice little walk and you are at your destination.
The Lechfall is a dam, over which the water (turquoise blue) falls over 5 steps about 12 m. From the bridge you have a wonderful view of the Lechfall and the Lech Gorge. Worth seeing!
