    FUSSEN
Very beautiful place, with a lot of things to see. Near Schwangau where you can visit Nueschwanstein . In the old town, do not miss the monastery , it is amazing!! People are friendly and food is in reasonable prices. The only thing that is a disadvantage for me is that buses stop running at about six in the evening(!) and taxis are not easy find. So either you go on foot or you hire a car...

    Dreamlike town
The old town of Füssen is worth seeing. The beautiful castle stands proudly above the city. Sure: the town is quite crowded, at least in summer, but it has charm. The roads are well maintained. There are traditional costume shops with very good advice and extremely friendly staff, quaint inns and other venues. There is something for every taste. Praiseworthy: the city issues a foot card for the “tourist tax” (available at the hotel or accommodation), so the buses can be used free of charge and there are some other discounts. So the car traffic can be relieved and one drives comfortably to the sights (e.g. Hohenschwangau Castle) .

    Beautiful!
I spent a few hours walking around this interesting old town. We parked in a big lot across from the monastery, and I walked over from there. I visited the cemetery, a church, and walked down by the river (which is a gorgeous blue color). There were many shops and restaurants, but I was there early in the morning so not much was open. There’s very much a Bavarian vibe, with murals on some of the walls, the colorful shutters, etc

Wonderful town in the Allgäu, from where the Romantic Strasse starts
For me, until today, the name of this village was inextricably linked to that of the two castles of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. When we decided to come here for the second time, this time at Christmas time to see the two castles, we added the Christmas markets of this town. I discovered a fairy world made of colored lights, cleverly directed in the streets of the old city. Unfortunately the time available was very limited, wedged between the visit to the two castles and the Christmas market. This did not allow us to properly visit the Abbey of San Magno, but above all to have to skip the castle that guards the city center. However, also thanks to the Christmas decorations and lights, the city center signals the world of fairy tales. The village impressed us in a particular way that we will return we will visit it well, the next time we come here to do the Romantic Strasse in a complete way. As for the Christmas markets, although small as it is, placed inside the inner square of the Abbey of San Magno, thanks to the skilful Christmas lights that came on as soon as the sun began to set, the effect was magical.

    Fairytale house
Stopped by for breakfast on the way to Castles. But turned out to be pleasantly surprised by this town. We even liked it better than the castles themselves. 🌨️ good in all weathers! Bright houses are beautiful even in snow and rain. 🗓️ a lot of shops, but on Sunday they are closed, but cafeterias and restaurants can be found on weekends. 🏰 curious castle. Be sure to circle it and look inside the fortress! Also, try entering the church near the far gate, next to the inscription “finanzamt”. The entrance to the church is not marked, but it is worth entering. 🕑 Town can be bypassed hours in 2

    Picturesque town near Neuschwanstein
We stayed in Fussen before and after our visit to Neuschwanstein Castle; the city is a quick drive away. Its Old Town is not large, but pretty and made for a nice evening walk as we got to know the city a little. There are several churches that can be visited while you're in the old town, as well as restaurants and shops. It was worth the couple hours that we took to wander around.

This is the end of the Romantic Road. The highlights of this town are the museum's "Dance of Death," the library, the church, and the exterior of Hohes Castle, all of which are close to each other.

Also, an early morning walk along the Lech River was pleasant.

I stayed in this town and went to Neuschwanstein Castle twice (early morning and evening). I was worried about the crowds and bad weather, but both times were fine.

The old town of Füssen is really beautiful. Houses worth seeing, beautiful flower arrangements, no signs of neglect, historic buildings and a retail sector that is far removed from the trend towards cheap.

However, you can't really enjoy the old town in a relaxed manner (anymore). The pedestrian zone and sidewalks have obviously become the natural habitat of electric two-wheelers, whose urge for self-determination knows no limits.

In stark contrast to the old town, the bus station, which you inevitably head for as an entrance. Crowds of people stand here tightly packed and without any protection from the weather on the edge of a desolate square whose analogue timetable information is at the technical level of the 1950s. What a poor calling card for the international tourism that travels here in the direction of the "Castles".

Despite the flaws, it is definitely worth a visit.

The romantic historic center of Füssen with its medieval streets, characterized by the old city walls and numerous Baroque churches, invites you to take a pleasant walk, with a beautiful view of the imposing Benedictine monastery. There are many typical places where you can taste typical Bavarian cuisine as well as shops selling typical products. Stupendous!

Füssen is a cute little and romantic town in Bavaria. We discovered the town and the famous Lech Falls by chance on our way to Austria. You can take a lovely walk through the old town, past the castle and to the waterfall in an hour, and you can even get to the border with Austria and back again. However, in the evening it gets relatively empty and quiet, so we recommend visiting during the day only.

While staying at Neuschwanstein, decided to stop by Fussen for some local sightseeing and cafe. There seems like a lot to see in a short day of sightseeing. You have the castle with nice aerial views of the town and Alps, plenty of churches and nice shots from the River Lech. There are several cafes and bars for a drink while relaxing with the sights.

Füssen and the surrounding area are beautiful! But what is really disturbing are the bicycle terrorists who ride next to each other on the sidewalk and on the street as if nothing else was happening. The municipal security service monitors the cars in the parking lot on Kemptener Strasse instead of punishing these terrorists in and around the pedestrian zone. After 2 days, the entire Allgäu region would be financially rich. This situation, in which all other road users are extremely hindered and affected, is unacceptable!

We were pleasantly surprised at all the nice shopping and eating opportunities here. Very nice little town with character and charm. Our favorite was watching the artists at work in the fancy Pilatius House at the edge of town.

This was one of our stops in the two weeks trek through Babaria and Tirol and I am happy it was in the planner. It is the home of Hones Schols, another reason this small town is very famous and looked for.
It is a charming typical Bavarian town with plenty of hotels, nice small shops and restaurants, friendly laid-back people.
Our hotel was right on the main street, a very old pretty building. You must stop and even spend a full day in this fascinating town if you are going to see the Marienbrücke & Neuschwanstein Castle in the area.

One of our last stops on our Romantic Road Roadtrip and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a great base if you’re planning to do the castles. The old town is very cute and charming although extremely pricey as to be expected from a ski town. It reminded me a lot of telluride, Colorado in the U.S.A. I bought some souvenirs here. We also had lunch a few times and got warmed up in some cafes. Definitely worth stopping to wander around the old town a bit.
