Four sixty nine year olds rode from Passau to Vienna with Radreisefreunde. They arranged our hotels, provided bikes, moved our luggage, etc. We had a great week riding on well maintained bike paths through forests, along the mighty Danube, and we'd do it again. I...More

This is not just a 300 km path down the Danube you can link it up with Eurovelo 6 a journey from the Atlantic coast of France through to the Black Sea. Even 20 kilometres is worth doing.

We booked a Boat and Bike Tour starting in Passau and going to Budapest and back again. Overall it was a fantastic experience and almost surreal as we were literally cycling through history. It's not every day you can ride along a beautiful river while...More

We had a wonderful ride on this path. Easy to do after a somewhat challenging time getting out of Passau. Only one lock to get over which was also a bit of a challenge since the bikes need to go down a flight of stairs;...More

While the bike trip down the Danube from Passau to Vienna is quite easy, there are stretches are actually quite boring. If you take a bike tour, please take very special attention to the hotels they book you in. Several of ours were not close...More

The company that we contracted with danube-bike.com is one to avoid. Our paniers were cheaply made and leaked on rainy days. We had to line them with plastic bags. Many of the hotels that were provided were far off the Danube trail and some in...More

4 of us just finished an awesome self-guided trip along the Danube; we actually started in Scharding, Austria where the tour operator has their headquarters and ended in Vienna. This trip is in varying lengths, from 7 to 12 days riding; we chose the 8...More

DO NOT use Danube Cycle ( danube-cycle.com ) if you are planning a cycling holiday in Austria. We cycled with them last month along the Danube path on a ride still advertised with "Daily riding: approx.- 64 kilometres" even though we have since repeatedly requested...More
