About
World history was written in the courtroom of the Nuremberg Palace of Justice. This is where leaders of the Nazi regime had to answer for their crimes before an international tribunal between November 20, 1945, and October 1, 1946. The trials had an enormous influence on the development of international criminal law right up to the present. Courtroom 600 remains a working courtroom to this day. The Nuremberg Trials Memorial ("Memorium Nürnberger Prozesse") is an information and documentation center located on the top floor of the Courthouse. In approximately 700 square meters of space, it provides insights about the defendants and their crimes, the Nuremberg Follow-Up Trials of 1946–49, and the impact of the Nuremberg Trials up to the present.

Must go for WWII history lover
A place you must go if you like WWII history. You will know the whole procedure of Nuremberg trial and its meaning in history. Nuremberg palace of justice is still used as a court. Therefore, if you google it, the schedule is 8:30am-5pm. However, the famous Courtroom 600 is open at 10am. 3 hours minimum, if you want to listen and read all the information in exhibition room. Suggestion: plan your trip in December 1-24th, you can also experience one of the best Christmas markets in Europe.

A must do if you have an interest in military and legal history.
A fascinating and very informative visit. The museum has a huge amount of information and includes the road to WWII, the conduct and the post-war trials. If you have an interest in military history especially some of the legal aspects, this is a must do. Be prepared to spend some time there as it takes some time to get through all of the information.

Definitely one of the best museums I’ve recently visited
One must see attraction once you are in Nuremberg. Very rich materials, a lot of information shared (photos, contemporary documents etc). All written in German mainly but free audio guides are available in 8 languages. Entrance fee is 7.5 euro for adults but if you have visited any other museum in Nuremberg on the same day, you have to pay only 3 euros. You should plan around 2 hours for the visit.

The Nuremberg trials set the standard for international criminal law: a must for anyone interested in history and law
We found a free parking space not too far from the entrance - worth looking for, because this is a working courthouse, not just a museum, and we did not see any open public lots close by. We stayed for about an hour – not enough time to go through all the exhibits or hear the testimonies, but (barely) enough to get a sense for what was there. What I had not realized before the visit was the extent to which the Nuremberg trials continued after the highest-ranking accused officials were tried – the trials continued for over another year, which meant that there were many opportunities for “new” lawyers to gain experience in what has become the field of international criminal law. Highly recommend a longer visit.

should be the 1# thing to do in Nuremberg, absoluelty amazing and interesting!
How this is not the 1# attraction of Nuremberg, I don't know! This museum is absolutely amazing. We arrived just as the next screening in the trial room took place and I was actually mesmirized by the unique experience this screening was. It draws you in immediately with the audio and videos from the actual trial being displayed in front of the court room, great way of showcasing the historical room while giving the guests the historical context. dare I say this techinque was "cool", I wish this was used in more museums. The screenings were every one and a half hour, but it is worth staying at the museum so you can catch one of them, we ended up staying in the exhibition until the next screening so there is definitely enough to see while you wait. The exhibition is amazing, too much to see in the time we were their, and though there is an audioguide, it takes the same time listening to it as it would take you to read the text on the displays. We did have a guided group in the exhibiton with us at the same time which made it a bit difficult to get to all of the displays and also not get disctracted by the guide as you tried to listen to the audio guide simultaneously. Went here with my parents, my mum uses a wheelchair and the entire attraction is wheelchair friendly, with a clean accesible toilet on the exhibition floor. Extremely interesting exhibition about an important part of human history. Would recommend!

Fantastic.. shame it’s not as was.
Fantastic to see. It’s a real shame it hasn’t been kept how it was during the trials or at least restored to that. You’re looking for the building to the right of the main building (we got confused when finding it). There is some limited parking outside too which is a bonus. The upstairs exhibit was nice, but a little bit wordy. The audio guide was quite a long explanation of basic things, so we skipped a lot. We spent around an hour here in total.

    Worth a visit.
Great to visit the place and feel the history of where the trials were held after WW2. To go into the actual courtroom,(although slightly different now) to where it all happened. You can head up to all the info boards but be aware they are all in German! We tried getting an audio guide but due to small numbers of them there was none left :-( Unfortunately my QR reader wasn't working correctly on my phone, so we felt we missed out on some of the information.

I found the Nuremberg Palace of Justice a bit disappointing. It was certainly interesting to see the centerpiece of the tour, the actual courtroom where the trials took place. However, the balance of the visit suffered, in my opinion, from information overload. There was very little in terms of artifacts in the visitor center, so the story told through the audio guides relied on photos and text on illuminated displays. I felt that better organization of the audio tour to give high level information on each exhibit with the ability to drill down more deeply if desired, would have been preferable. Instead, the audio tour simply read in English what was on the displays in German, including each and every photo caption in detail.

This is one of the most dramatic and rich moments in modern history, where, in the words of prosecutor Robert Jackson, we witnessed “the greatest tribute power has ever paid to reason”. Terrible testimony of hideous evils was presented to the court in front of the architects of that evil, Inspiring a fight for the truth which played out across the world’s press. Big ideas and ideals of justice, evil, redemption, truth, human rights and international order were debated daily. Teams of gifted and hard working people sought fairly to prosecute notorious Nazis with incisive precision.

None of that is clear from the museum. It’s a travesty. Just panel after panel of uninspired text with a drab audio guide translation and some very small photos. You will get more out of buying a book and reading up (try Phillipe Sands East-West Street) or a podcast (the BBC recently did a fictionalised account which worked really well). I literally have a phd in the subject and even I was bored.

It’s just a really, really terrible museum.

Be sure to check the days the court is in session as on those days it's not open to the public.

The display has a lot of information which you access through the free audio guide. It tells the story from the decision to set up the tribunal, through the selection of judges and the proceedings themselves. It then links that information to the Tokyo Trial and the creation of the International Court of Justice.

Sure, there aren't many original artifacts, but no doubt the Allied powers didn't have the future needs of tourists in mind when the courts work concluded.

At the end of the display, you are directed to the courtroom itself. I felt completely absorbed in the narrative of events and it was amazing to find myself only metres away from the place Hess, Goring and others heard the outcome of the greatest trial ever.

The Nuremberg Tribunal is a very important chapter in history. The curator has done a good job in telling this story.
The audio guide (scanned code and listened on your own phone) provides rich background information. The videos are very interesting to watch. It gave me chills to watch and hear Goering acting out during the trial.
I only wish that the local government hadn't decided to dismantle the court and had preserved it in its original form for history's sake. I understand the need to move on, but learning from history is the best way, and probably the only way, to move onto the right path.

Exteriorly, the building does not necessarily pay for mine especially knowing that it is still used today (blinds of the left building in poor condition).
Entrance is more than reasonable Award with audio guide included and it absolutely must be taken: it gives so many explanations that we could not do everything in the afternoon! Without him, the visit would be content with many signs and documents, but only in English and German and very condensed in relation to these explanations. It is quite impressive to start with room 600; especially to visualize in relation to the photos and documents of the period in situation!
Beware that it can still be used by the courts and can therefore be closed if necessary.
We easily spent 1h30 skipping some stages, especially the very end of the route because the museum was going to close.
Small displaceable seats are available in the various rooms, and this is appreciated because there are many signs and explanations each time, too bad that there are sometimes not enough depending on the number of people present.
In short, for this Award, if you are passionate about History, to do!

Good museums to my way of thinking include both stories and artifacts and this fascinating and historical buildings includes both. There are an excellent array of information boards and photographs about the war trials (and seats from which to read them!). And of course there's the courtroom itself which you can actually sit in. Try and visit when the excellent audiovisual is scheduled. Nicely done. Couple of logistical things: it's easy to reach the building by the U-bahn and when you do don't be distracted by the modernish building at the front - when you walk down the side street you'll see the building.

It is worth the visit. We were unlucky to find two bitter people at the reception, otherwise very good. The visit will take you 2 hours. Although they say you can't park in the area, it's not true, or at least I didn't have any problems. There was plenty of free space and parking is free. I parked near an Aldi and did some shopping for the next day. Admission includes an audio guide. They close at 6 in the afternoon, and at least they are already kicking people out. Try to go with time.

We stopped here as part of our Nuremberg tour. Even though we could only see the exterior of the building, it was very moving to know its historical significance. It had been an active courtroom for many years until recently it was turned into a museum.
