Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely fascinating museum, use the audio guide, very easy, allow time to see and read the history. The building itself, never finished, but would have been twice as big as the coliseum. Was told that it was too expensive to complete for modern Germany ?! So just rubble left around the outside. Realise they don’t want constant reminders 75 years on but think of the irony of an unfinished tribute to Hitler, being completed as a world centre to peace and justice. One of the must see sites.

We were unable to secure a tour a few days in advance. Instead, we took a tram to the Nazi Parade grounds and museum. The museum is under construction but they had a temporary exhibit which was very good. Therefore, I recommend that you book far enough in advance to secure the tour, note that the courtroom 600 has several closed times.

Unfortunately, at the time of our visit, the entire site was a construction site. However, there was no information about this either online or on site. We paid the full entrance fee, only to find out upon entry that the entire exhibition was currently limited to one room.

This place is currently undergoing some sort of restoration, but probably at a slow pace, as there were no workers visible.
There are photos, how it looked before. It was completely demolished and a lot of work was done. But it is not enough yet - half of the place is closed for safety reasons, documentation center is closed too and the only information, you can get on boards is, how is are the restorations going, what is the intended state and how much it was damaged before. No relevant information on the history.
4* is the historical authenticity. If you are already in Nuremburg, dont miss it. If you plan to visit Nuremburg to see it, dont do that, you will be disappointed.

This is truly and impressive site; particularly considering that the structure was never really completed. Easy to see how an assembled group would be influenced strongly by propaganda. The lake outside adds to the impression of strength. Matches many of today's arenas for size.

This, unfortunately, is a historic site still left from Hitler's time. This is where he held his yearly, week long Nazi rallies where people would stream in from the whole country. The structures are in for the most part still in place. Now, the fields are used as a soccer field and an overflow parking lot.

The rally grounds are enormous and pretty much still the same(except rundown and overgrown w/ weeds) since Hitler's time. Not much has changed. Amazing to see where Hitler held his rallies and to hear our guide's vivid descriptions of what took place.

The rally grounds take some walking round but that gives a true perspective. Very sobering to stand where speeches were delivered and to look out over the whole site. I believe some upgrades are being made: it will be interesting to see how this develops.

Weirdly moving experience. Letting the place slowly go to ruin while allowing safe access seems like the best approach. In our trip, I came to respect Germanys treatment of its 20th Century legacy.

Finding it was a challenge. The Nazi Rally Grounds Museum is one of the best kept secrets (shames?) of Nuremburg. After you have explored the city center, it provides an interesting contrast. The handheld audio guide had excellent English descriptions of the items along the way and I spent over two hours going through this very educational museum. You get a history of Hitler's acquisition of emergency powers and subsequent consolidation of power. It gives a perspective of the nationalism exuded there and the powerful propoganda used by the Nazi Party. The slave labor used to cut and move the large stones used to build the rally grounds and the Nuremberg Trials are also covered. The museum is built like a spike that cuts through the building as an architectural statement. This museum is not fun, but it is sobering and educational. Seeing footage of happy Nazi Youth participating in sporting events with a monumental backdrop built by slave labor gives one a good sense of the history there. The trials and executions of the perpetrators does provide a sense of closure at the end. It was a good experience, overall.

Hi we are visiting in November this year staying in old town Nuremberg how far is this from the old town can we walk it? How far to walk please ..thanks is the courthouse there too /museum?
Written 1 February 2020
From the main train station it’s a tram ride to the rally grounds and documentation center. Too far to walk.
Written 1 February 2020
You can walk around the grounds at no cost but there is a modest admission fee for the museum which is very informative and gives you a much broader appreciation of the layout of the grounds and its significance to the strategic thinking of the party in power.

Hi All, I note website says Documentation Centre isn't appropriate for children under 14 can anyone advise why? Given this place is focused on Hilter's rise to power rather than he Holocaust is there content that's particularly distressing? Thanks
Written 19 February 2019
Depends how you define 'distressing' and how mature the child. I would advise parental guidance. As long as you can explain and describe the history and the child is able to take this on board then museums such as this are absolutely essential for their learning and yours. We took our children to Auchwitz aged 10 and 12. They were no more upset by the experience than me. They are not scarred by the experience but we still talk about it 20 years later it's something none of us will ever forget. Children are incredibly robust.

Are there any baby (nappy) change facilities available on site?
Written 22 December 2018
Not that I noticed, but the staff were very helpful

Please could anyone tell me whether there are toilets on site?
Written 23 November 2018
There definitely are toilets in the museum adjacent to the rally grounds. The distance beween the two sites is no longer than 5-10 minutes easy walk.

Hi. I will be taking a river cruise in late November and the stop at Nuremburg includes a guided sighteeing tour of the city and Kaiserburg OR a rally grounds tour. For those who have visited both, which would you choose and why?
Written 24 October 2017
Definitely the city tour. Enjoy!
Written 10 November 2017
Hello. MJbLimbricht, I saw your post about the Nazi Party Rally Grounds. You mentioned a tour is at 2pm on the weekends. Did you go on it? Do you recommend it? Are there audio guides for people who are not in the city on the weekends and consequently cannot go on the guided tour?
Written 23 July 2017
We did go on the tour and found it very interesting. Our guide was a professor from the university and was well versed in the history of WW II. I am not sure about the audio guides. Our tour was arranged through our cruise line.
Written 31 December 2017
There is an entrance fee for the Documentation Center, but to see the rally grounds themselves, there is no fee...
Written 24 November 2018
What is the approximate time it takes for the visit? Thank you
Written 13 February 2016
It really depends on how interested you are and how much you want to see. You could just view the rallying grounds and the outside of the buildings in about half an hour. Or you could view that stuff more in depth plus the museums and easily spend half a day.
