After a couple of weeks of eating out, this market, with all of the garden vegetables, looked like an oasis. Recommend seeing this, even if just browsing.

Must be a rule, but all the stalls have red and white stripped roofs. This really adds to the quaint nature of the Hauptmarkt. We just enjoyed walking around, and even purchasing Lebkuchen in summer! One could even catch some street vendor food here. Always...More

Very nice place in medieval surrounding of old city centre - totally overcrowded during Christmas time - but must visit even if staff quite impatient and prices too high....athmosphere special at evening hours is worth all incommodities

Hauptmarkt is where it is at when you are in the city. Lots of fun little pop-up restaurants and foods to try. Fresh produce is wonderful. Great way to spend some time away from all of the historical information in Nuremberg. Prices are very reasonable.

The market has expanded over the years from the central market location in HauptMarkt out over the bridges toward LorenzKirche. When we were there Spargel (white asparagus) was in season. If you hit the season be sure to try Spargel soup and steamed spargle.

The market square is quite large and on the three occasions I have been here there have always been a multitude of colourful stalls. On one corner of the square you will see the magnificent old colourful fountain 'Der Schoene Brunnen' and soaring above the...More

The Hauptmarkt is probably considered by most people to be the centre of town. Always lots going on and good for people watching. Lots of bars, restaurants, ice cream shops, tourist shops etc and market stalls. All in the big square surrounded by churches etc....More

Not sure if we just came at the wrong time of year for this or what really. When we visited in February the market consisted of about 4 stalls and a food van spread over the square. We found that the one selling gingerbread seemed...More

Beautiful, well organized and visually attractive open market - fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, etc. Nice to venture through to see how different their open market is versus your own. There was also a lively Saturday open market with various vendors offering a variety food, dessert...More

Hi, I will be in Nuremberg on Sunday, 4th Sep 2017 and will be staying at the Adina Apartment Hotel. Will the Hauptmarkt stalls/shops be open on Sundays? If they are all closed on Sundays than where would be the best place to shop and sightsee at the same time?

Hello when we visited only some stalls were open on the Sunday. Mainly craft stalls. Only a few. Saturday is the main day. You could contact tourist information because there are different events on during the year.
will it be open on Ascension day 5 May ?

As others have written, it is right in the middle of the city. Its in a square at the foot of the hill with the castle on top of it.
