- Lisa WWichita Falls, Texas1,126 contributionsNice detourThis place didn't even register as a place to go while in Munich. I'm not much of a car person. It's more of my husband's cup of tea, but I actually really enjoyed it. There aren't a lot of cars to see, but the ones there are the best.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 October 2023

- Pauli P207 contributionsWorth to visit as a free bonus from OlympiaparkLegendary Olympiapark needed a visit and there is no reason pass-by this BMW showroom at the same time. It is free for everyone and you get easily sights how things have changed no only in BMW but also whole car industry during years. There is also Munich factory tours guided from Welt but this are needed to book well ahead (by calling/mailing there). Easy to reach with metro, stop is only 150m away from Welt.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 January 2024
- Daniel S213 contributionsA good (and free!) overview of BMW vehicles and automotive futureThis is a free exhibit, of all the new BMW cars and motorbikes. Plus there were a few Rolls Royce cars (behind a barrier) and Minis that you could look at too. Most of the cars were locked, but some you could sit inside. All the motorbikes on the first floor were accessible, and the kids loved sitting on them all! I thought a short visit but we were there close to 2 hours, wandering around looking at everything, while the kids checked out the motorbikes. There were a few displays about the automotive future for BMW too. It's a glorified showroom, without the pushy car salespeople. The building is amazing architecture too! Certainly worth a visit if you are in Munich. Easily reachable from the city centre by U-Bahn.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 April 2024

We did stop for coffee but there were two nice looking cafes onsite. We enjoyed this stop more than the museum across the street!Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 April 2024

If you love cars, you will see some exceptional vehicles there. Not only that but the cafe is quite good and there is a fun gift shop. From the history of BMW to the delivery (factory tour which i havent done) this is an out and out experience for most, but particularly car buffs. The show room includes a test track, VIP area for the experience of car collection, restaurants, souvenir shops and an insight into other BMW brands on display. The Rolls Royce 4wd and utility an example of such. Great half day entertainment. Close to Olympic Park home of the 1972 Olympics, which is a 5 min walk. Train station on the doorstep.

BMW Welt is an exceptionally interesting place that I randomly visited as my initial intention was to visit the BMW Museum (which, fun fact, I finally did not). It is an exhibition with some of the newest models of the brand. All types of cars are welcomimng you to admire, sit in them and take as many photos as you can. What is however the most breathtaking in my opinion is the architectural miracle in which this exhibition is held. It is a whirlpool-like building from the outside and has many levels on the inside where the models are placed. It is totally worth a visit either you are a car enthousiast or not. I also should add that the day I visited there was no admission fee required!

In addition to the large showroom with all the exhibition cars, the architecture is also impressive. The round shapes, the futuristic architecture and design, the double cone.
Definitely a highlight in Munich. All 3 buildings are impressive - BMW headquarters, BMW Museum, BMW Welt
Worth a visit at any time, for everyone - young, old, single, couple or family with children. There are parking spaces directly under the building. Take the elevator up and stand directly in the showroom.
Can be easily combined with the Olympic park. The Olympic park area site is across the street and is easily accessible via a bridge. There is also a great view of BMW from the Olympic Tower

BMW World and Museum are worth a visit and excellent standard as would be expected.
What let's it down is the Cafes. The quality and selection of food and drinks is actually poor.
There are crowds of people wanting to use Cafe but after talking to others they have said standard poor. Not what's expected of this sort of company.

BMW Welt is just a huge car dealership with a merch store inside it.
Ok, so if you are a super fan of BMW then yes, go to BMW Welt. I assume the cars on display are better or more interesting than an actual car dealership but as someone who isn't hugely into cars, 5 min was enough for me to get the idea. I much rather the BMW museum.
If you have anyone who is "casually interested" but not mad for it, take them to the museum instead. The museum has a bit more to it in terms of engaging other interests (history, a fun piece of art in the entry etc).
BMW Welt is really for BMW fans. If this is you, enjoy (and don't forget to check out the motorbike section upstairs). If it is not you, take a pass.

Visited in March 2022 after flying from Ireland with Covid recovery/immunity certificates without any issue. For reasons I am still none the wiser about these were rejected at the door and when I explained they were fully accepted by Lufthansa we were told "BMW have their own rules and you have to be 3 months recovered from COVID" so we had to go outside to a testing bus and spend 30 minutes there with young children, thankfully experiencing a much more pleasant German who was very helpful to all take tests. We then went in and spent less time than that in BMW Welt as various parts were closed off. As a BMW fan who had travelled a long distance it was a real let down all round. I checked the BMW Welt website later that day which states "Please provide a proof that you are fully vaccinated, recovered..." with no mention of any of the conditions imposed on us on the day.

Not to be confused with the BMW museum, BMW Welt is a large exhibition space showing off the latest models & future concepts. Free entry & open early to late. I'm not a big petrolhead but I enjoyed a look around, coveted the fab future cars. Who knew there is something called E-Ink which allows one to change the colour of the car! Also a section on Minis & a couple of future spec Rolls Royce models. Upstairs there are a selection of motorbikes. There is a guided tour (didn't take it) & a nice-looking café (didn't try it). Worth a look. From Marienplatz, take the U3 underground towards Moosach. Get off at Olympiazentrum station & it's less than a 5 min walk

First experience, 10 years ago was acceptable but the server in the self service restaurant was EXTREMELY rude, he obviously hated his job, his life, and anyone who didn’t speak German. Second time around, the experience was not any better, multiple areas of the place were closed off. Additionally, went to the main restaurant which was closed for a “private function”, when a manager saw us trying to get in, he pretended he didn’t speak English to let us know the restaurant was closed, someone coming with him felt bad for us and translated, 10 min later, I heard the same manager speaking in fluent English to someone else. This place obviously hates tourist, this is not an over statement. If you’d like to go, just to see cars, go! If you dare to speak to an employee, be ready to be treated like a third world citizen. Obviously, some employees in this place clearly display some negative German stereotypes at its fullest.

I used the online form to book a combi tour for early January (the factory will still be closed for the holidays) - the response was that they were only booking until the end of September. They instructed me resubmit the request, but this time to include an explicit request to be contacted by them when new dates are available. How far out do they allow you to book? It looks like more people have had success with a phone call, but do not want to contact them too soon (again). Thank you!

I was a walk in visitor so not familiar with the BMW policy. Also i visited the museum and not the BMW factory tour, i did ask for it and was told it was fully booked for the day. So in essence if the slots are available then one can walk in and do a factory tour although i would say its better to pre book

Gracias
