Interesting insight into the long (and troubled) Jewish experience in Munich and Bavaria. I certainly was unaware of the Jewish connection to the brewing industry which was featured in the special exhibition (they controlled the hops industry). Obviously much of the more recent history is disturbing but very interesting and well done

We were expecting a Jewish museum in Germany to be focused on the Second World War. This museum is more focused towards Judaism and their religious practices, which is most definitely interesting. I think we just got our hopes up following a visit to the holocaust museum in Berlin which was amazing. We visited the temporary exhibition which was focused... More

I imagined any German Jewish museum would centre itself around the Second World War. In some ways it's a good thing this one isn't as there's only so many ways one can tell the story. While we were there, there was an exhibition on beer brewing and Judaism. The shop is small and sells some nice and reasonably priced trinkets.

Had high expectations of a museum to tell the Jewish story of Munich. After a good interactive first exhibit (a large map of Munich where TVs screens light up as you placed sign boards on the relevant place on the map), the visit went down hill. I was hoping for more personal stories through time (including of course the holocaust)... More

Maybe I was expecting more about the war - the holocaust - and the experience of those who suffered - and although I consider myself v pro-Judaism although not Jewish myself and have a real affinity with the atrocities that took place and the persecution of those involved. That aside I was surprised that although there were testimonies from Jewish... More

Compared to some of the heavy hitting Jewish museums, this one is a bit underwhelming but still worth a visit. Odd layout in that the permanent exhibition is on the first floor and focuses on Jewish life in Munich -that was well done and interesting. The other floors were all a temporary exhibit on Jews and beer making which was... More

This museum is not a holocaust memorial. It has a great permanent exhibit that described the history of the Munich Jewish community. When I was there, the temporary exhibit described the influence of Jewish beer makers in Munich. Everthing was well done, and all exhibits were done in German and English.

The only part of the museum that was at all interesting was the floor that reviews the history of Jews in Munich, but even that lacked some substance. The temporary exhibit was two whole floors of Jewish enterprises with beer, mostly in the US. This did not hold my attention. Your €6 could be better spent elsewhere.

Beautiful building situated next to kosher restaurant.Permanent exhibit of under 100 "artifacts" presented with the feeling that Jews are a homogeneous and extinct race. Given Munich's long & complicated history with its Jewish citizens, mounting 2 floors depicting Jewish immigrants brewing beer in the USA seems like an uninspired & strange choice, especially during Pesach. Museum would benefit from a... More

I really enjoyed the permanent exhibit on the lower level about Jewish history in Munich and Jewish traditions, but the next exhibit about Jewish contributions to beer production in Germany/Munich was not so interesting to me...I might stop by on my next trip to Munich.
