I visited this museum, not really knowing about The Blue Rider etc, however, fell in love with the art that I had never seen before. Bought some art books and has inspired me to start drawing again. A feel good museum, very nice staff too.

We happened to go here because it was opened on a holiday and discovered it's wonderful location. Excellently curated, great collection. We also enjoyed the cafe.

The conceptual art here is as always difficult. But the blue rider local artists make up most of the galleries and are definitely worthwhile.

I walked past this structure in July 2016 with my adult nephew. It's a beautiful building, but the gates were not open. We saw some middle school-aged children going into the building and initially assumed it was a private school. We found out later it was the Lenbach House.

Nice collection of modern art but the stars are on the top floor, superb examples by Kandinsky, Klee and other painters of that group.

If you want to see where and when abstract painting was invented, go to the Lenbachhaus where Vassily Kandinski's paintings from 1900 onward are exhibited. Around 1910 Kandinski transitioned from representational to abstract art, and the process is fully documented with a series of wonderful paintings. Your mind gets flushed with his incredible colors to a point that the visit... More

After long time the Lenbachhaus is refubrished and has a new look. The new building is modern, verything is perfect, the lighting, the exposition etc. However, I feel something is not so good as it used to be. Before there was a feeling that you are visiting an artists house with paintings on the wall. Now it is the museum,... More

This held some great German art and was very interesting. The studio and living quarters of 'the painter Prince' were definitely worth a look.

This doesn't look like your typical museum! It's more like a mansion. There's a mix of modern and contemporary art. Once you enter the lobby, there's a piece of art hanging from the ceiling that instantly grabbed my attention. I call it the "glass tornado." See my attached picture and maybe you'll agree. Absolutely stunning! When I visited the museum,... More

Not to be missed. Great paintings by the Blauer Reiter, in particular, Kandinsky and Münter. Nice collection of German impressionisms. Interesting collection of art after 1945. Beautifully presented. Add some minutes in the beautiful garden.
