After a morning across the road, at the Alte Pinakothek, we crossed over to see this magnificent collection of modern art. It is worth allowing a whole day to see these two galleries, which are some of the most impressive in the world.
I can't pretend that I spent ages gazing at every painting. But this is such a superb gallery, you can go through and pick out what interests you - and it will still take a couple of hours.

Lovely, open halls with a clear tour route; helpful staff; and a collection of different styles and eras of work from across Europe since 1800. A very fulfilling morning for one with no specialist knowledge at all.
