if you are an art lover; located just across the Alte Pinakothek it would be tempting to try do them both in 1 day; don't, it would be a pity as you need to take each one in , have the visit separate in time...More

I love visiting art galleries to just gaze in wonder at the works of the great artists and the New Pinakothek is one of the very best with so many fabulous paintings to be seen. This gallery concentrates on (relatively) modern works from the 18th...More

If you ever read any encyclopedy you most likely came across some of the pieces in that museum. The place is impressive, some rooms are so big you might build a house with a garden inside them. You might spend an hour, browsing and wondering;...More

Van Gogh's Sunflowers, works by Klimt make this well worth a visit, but we were a bit disappointed that the Impressionist galleries were closed for renovation.

After a morning across the road, at the Alte Pinakothek, we crossed over to see this magnificent collection of modern art. It is worth allowing a whole day to see these two galleries, which are some of the most impressive in the world.

Not a big museum, it takes about 1h/1h30 to see all rooms. Worth a visit if you love arts, several masterpieces and beautiful paintings. The shop has a good selection of postcards and books..

I can't pretend that I spent ages gazing at every painting. But this is such a superb gallery, you can go through and pick out what interests you - and it will still take a couple of hours. Somehow managed to start at the end...More

Lovely, open halls with a clear tour route; helpful staff; and a collection of different styles and eras of work from across Europe since 1800. A very fulfilling morning for one with no specialist knowledge at all.

A good choice for us as it was open on Mondays, whereas the Alte Pinakothek is not. As you would expect the artists represented include the French Impressionists such as Van Gogh, Monet and Gaugin, as well as Klimt and Rodin. The big benefit was...More

This museum of 19th century art works has some terrific features. The works are grouped in schools that make interesting comparisons. The audio guide is the best I have gotten at any art museum. The lay-out of the museum makes it easy to follow in...More
